A/N: So, I will be updating this story still. It's just, I don't have as much time to write freely anymore with my schoolwork and writing class. I'm almost out of high school and really need to start focusing on my grades and figuring out my post-secondary life, so that means updates will come around slower. Don't worry! I will not abandon this story!

Intense pain erupted through tensed muscles and cracked bones for the second time that day. A small trickle of blood ran down sweaty olive skin. Faded blue eyes, the colour of a lake, narrowed to slits as Vic concentrated on Katja's form.

The women circled each other slowly, while Darko oversaw their sparring session. The two had been fighting for about an hour, and there didn't seem to be any signs that they would be stopping anytime soon. It was when Katja shot a dark smirk at Vic and hit her with a spell, that Vic realized she was going to wind up dead at some point.

Her vision went dark and her legs buckled underneath her. When Vic came back to full consciousness, she found herself in an abandoned warehouse surrounded by cloaked figures.

The figure closest to her removed his hood, revealing an older, angry-looking Evergrey. The others removed their hoods, revealing the equally vexed faces of Linda, Alex, Lisa, and Anne. Evergrey stepped forwards, his top lip curling back in a sneer. He looked at Vic as if though she was nothing more than a nuisance.

Vic stared up at him, eyes wide in shock. "You are a pathetic excuse for a Soul Rider." His voice was cold and his eyes dead. "I don't know why Elizabeth took you in, or why Fripp insisted on you knowing the Keeper's secrets." He sneered at her with vile contempt and stepped backwards while Alex stepped forwards.

She paced around Vic slowly and began laughing darkly. Her voice was just as haunting as Evergrey's and held a cold bite to it. "You know, you are a terrible friend. Abandoning us? How could you?" She spat. "We were better off without you."

Vic scowled up at Alex, her eyes glassy and brows creased. She shakily stood, her sides heaving from further exertion. "That's not true and you know it! I would never dare do anything to hurt any of you," She bit out.

Before anyone could respond, the world around Vic broke slightly. The figures of the Soul Riders and Evergrey literally cracked; a faint icy blue light shining through the fractures. But the vision repaired itself just as quickly.

Through the haze, a faint figure materialized. Vic narrowed her eyes at it and took a ragged breath, focusing solely on the manifestation. She felt a powerful surge of energy build up in her veins. The magic collected in her core before exploding outwards in a display of black-ish purple. The figure let out a yelp as it fell backwards.

The illusion shattered and Vic was back in a sandy wring, standing over Katja. The Nightmare Rider's clothes were lightly singed and her ankle was starting to turn to stone. Katja half glared, half smirked up at Vic, her eyes dark with bloodlust.

Darko began clapping slowly, the sound echoing out around the clearing. He walked over to Vic and leaned down, whispering in her ear. "Good job Toria." Her body tensed up, shoulders rising at his proximity. "Well, I think I'll call it a day dear child." He backed away, leaving Vic and Katja alone.

The halls of Marchenghast Castle were dimly lit and the walls were shrouded in banners. Each banner was a different colour and sported a family crest that represented each noble family bloodline in Jorvik. She passed a black banner with a strange looking goat of silver embroidered on it.

Gunnar stopped walking when he noticed Vic's interest. "That is the flag of the Lorenson family. You'll meet the Patriarch later tonight."

Vic smiled up at him, looping her arm through his again. "What kind of goat is that though?"
