ACT 3 SCENE 3

(Entrance to Dexelcove Police Station).

Guard : (Salutes) "Morning inspector".

Inspector : (Responds warmly) "Morning Officer Jones. Yesterday was quite a night right ?"

Guard : "Yes sir, the winds were really wild. I'm just glad there was no destruction. No one could predict such a storm on such a sunny day".

Inspector : "Hmmm, you might have not heard then, (pauses). Today is a Saturday and I'm sure not many people will be visiting the station today. Why not, leave your post to your assistants and join me in my office.

Guard : (With a grin which he tries to hide) "Yes Sir (turns to his assistant who stands across him by the gate). I will be in the inspectors office. While I'm gone, you're in charge and make sure you don't leave your post".

Ass. Guard : (Salutes) "Yes sir".

Guard : "Good" (Turns around and walks back to the inspector).

A House In Dexelcove.

Mary : (Touches his son's neck as she gently raises his head off her laps unto the bed. She gets up from the bed and walks out of the room to the living room, where the husband sits in a couch with a newspaper in his hands). "Honey, I told you we should have taken him to the hospital, now he's burning up with a very bad fever".

Eyram : (Drops the newspaper on the coffee table and looks up to his wife who stood just in front of him, still in her morning coat). "If you had given him the aspirine for his headache yesterday, I'm sure he would have been alright. How could you expect me to take him to the hospital in that storm at that time of the night".

Mary : (Sits down by his side and rubs his shoulder looking emotional as she turns his head to look into her eyes). "Honey, I know you asked me to give him the aspirine, but, I don't think it was a headache. It looked more like he was having a nightmare. You saw it right. And we couldn't even wake him up. I'm very sorry I didn't listen to you, but please, storm has stopped. Could you take him to the hospital now please ? He's just moaning and groaning on the bed, he won't wake up".

Eyram : (In shock) " What ! He hasn't woken up. Get me my keys and tell Isaac to take the boy to the car. I am going to change my pants. Tell him to be quick.

Dexelcove Police Station.

(Inspector Tia sits with Officer Jones as both men have a conversation).

Inspector : "All of this is strange don't you think, all nine children who are gone missing are students of Dexelcove College."

Guard : "You may say so but, I know you've read the report on that case and you know that all the missing children disappeared in their various homes and not in the school".

Inspector : (leans forward and rests his arms on his desk). "I'm not trying to pin this on the school, but, just look at this. All the children missing are students of Dexelcove College and per my research, they are all in one way or the other acquainted to two students, Christopher Iyan and Delphine Abena Iyan also of Dexelcove College.

Guard : (Gently scratches his chin) " You may be unto something".

Inspector : "During my investigation, I found out that your daughter teaches at Dexelcove College and more importantly she teaches the class of the girl, Delphine".

Guard : "So if I get what you mean, you want my daughter to interrogate the girl for you".

Inspector : "Not interrogate exactly but probe. I want you to help me uncover something and I need your daughter's help. I need her to probe into Abena's background. The information we have on her on our database is not sufficient to uncover anything. My gut tells me this girl is the lead we have been missing and I don't question my gut".

Guard : "well sir, her probing into the matter of another to source information without the girls approval is illegal and I could end up guarding her form escaping this place".

Inspector : " If she assists and we're able to solve this case, she would be rewarded for helping the police in investigation. I'll make sure she gets in no trouble. You can completely trust me on that. I really need her Jones".

Guard : "I really do respect you inspector Tia, but if anything should happen to my daughter, you will rue this day".

Inspector : "Thank you very much Officer Jones. You have my word. No harm will come to your daughter. You can take the day of if you wish. You have done me too great a favour".

Guard : "Thank you inspector. But I'm still concerned about my daughter. Make sure no harm comes to her". (Shakes the inspector's stretched hand, gets up to salute and exits the room.

Inspector : (Clasp his hands with his elbows on the desk) "It really doesn't take much to persuade the old man. (Pulls a newspaper from the stacked files and papers on the right side of his desk. Caption: Two Children Gone Missing Again). Whoever you are, I'm on your tail, run as fast as you can, but don't try to hide".

Dexelcove Catholic Hospital.

(Doctor comes out of the emergency ward and collides into Eyram as he turns right).

Eyram : (with a lot of worry on his face). "Doctor is he alright. Please, tell me something".

Doctor : "I'm very sorry sir, but you brought your son in too late. (Pauses).

Eyram : (Tears stream down his face. His elder son, Isaac, notices and gets up from the waiting chair).

Doctor : "Don't cry sir, your son is not dead, but, I'm afraid he's in a coma".

Eyram : (Wiping the tears off his face) "he's in a coma ? but, but,...
