Chapter 6: DejaVu

I drove out into town trying to find the small restaurant Angela had told me to meet at. As I got closer to town, I noticed small stores and restaurants. This town was smaller than I thought. There wasn't much room or place to go. Forks began to sadden me. Clouds began to form and I heard thunder in a distance. This type of weather would be the kinda that I stay home watching a movie, but not here.

I turned around at a corner to find parking space but almost crashed with a small silver car. I freaked out but the other driver just took off. I ignored it and tried to drive away but a red convertible drove faster trying to get passed me. I saw this driver better than the other. She was a blonde girl who seemed a couple of years older than me. There were three other people in her car. All of them didn't seem to noticed they almost crashed. They just ignored everything else. It was easy to forget them.

I shook my head and found a parking space. At that moment, I saw Angela and Jessica coming out of a small car. They walked over to where I was, and I got out of my car.

"Kat! We thought you weren't coming after we cancelled. Sorry about that," Jessica said smiling. She was putting her hood up as thunder got louder.

I did the same and told her, "Don't worry about it. I'm just glad we can do something now."

Angela finished texting and smiled. "The boys are going to meet us up in a couple of minutes we should just go in the restaurant and get a table."

"Let's do it then," I agreed. Jessica nodded and we followed behind Angela.

The restaurant was a small diner style place with booths and tables. The hostess led us to a table in the back after we told her there was more people coming. We sat down and waited for her to come back with menus.

"So how do you like Forks so far?" Jessica asked, I noticed she would be the most talkative while Angela just sat quietly.

I sighed. "It could be better, but I'm trying not to complain so much since I'm stuck here."

"That's great! You will like it, I promise. And wait until we have U of W come to Forks!" she said, confusing me.

Angela noticed and replied, "U of W comes down to Forks for orientation and registration. It's easier than kids having to fly off there."

"Oh, that's good then. I guess I have to sign up those. Of course, I'll go with you two or I'll probably be lost," I informed them.

"We'll be with you, don't worry," Jessica assured. Angela nodded in agreement.

Our waitress came with menus to our table. I saw from where I was sitting the boys walking in to the restaurant. I had noticed Emily wasn't with them. I asked Angela whispering and she told me Emily was sick. The boys sat at our table and we all ordered the special.

"Katherine!" Mike said as got closer to me. I noticed Jessica look our way.

"Yes?"

He continued to smile. "How you liking Forks? Enjoying the rain?"

"Not really, but I have to," I confessed.

"Kat is going to register with us," Jessica started, "but Mike and myself are going together." She was sure to emphasize together.

I pulled myself away from Mike feeling awkward at not noticing they were together. But I did know that Mike was looking at me more than he should. Great...

"I was thinking, let's go back to La Push. We never finished our picnic," Eric added trying to take the focus away from Mike.

"I like La Push," I stated as my own inside joke. No real interest in Jacob but he was my friend.
