Chapter 7: Blueberry Bubblegum

Magi and Charles made their way into the supermarket. The windows and glass doors were all shattered. Right when the cataclysm happened riots broke out and mobs started raiding stores. The supermarket was a mess, food scattered everywhere, glass on the floor, but it was like this everywhere.

Magi: *whispering* Charles look!

Magi pointed at what seemed to be bags of snacks, gummy bears, sour worms, chips, and chocolate.

Charles: *sigh* Fine, but only a couple, we need to keep room for the important stuff.

Magi got really happy, this was the dream of any 5-year-old, to take as many snacks and sweets as she wanted. Charles went on forward-looking for flashlights and first aid kits. He figured Magi wouldn't go far, since all the snacks were in one area. Magi started filling up with many delicious sweets.

Magi: One for me and one for Chars. Two for me and one for Chars. Three for me and-

Something caught Magi's attention. It was a limited edition blueberry heart-shaped bubblegum at the top of the shelf. Magi had seen many advertisements for this particular type of bubblegum. They had different shapes and had different flavors, like watermelon, green apple, and strawberry. Magi really wanted the blueberry bubblegum one so she started climbing the shelf. She climbed and climbed, shelf after shelf until she reached the top.

Magi: Almost there, come to me my precious.

As Magi said that her heart dropped, the shelf was starting to tilt over. Magi screamed as the shelf tumbled on top of her. A loud bang followed as Magi fell to the ground, the shelf was stopped by a cement pole that was in the middle of the food aisle. Charles rushed over as soon he heard the loud commotion.

Charles: Damn it, Maggi! Are you hurt?!

Magi: *sniffling* I'm s-sorry Chars I just-

Charles: I asked if you were hurt! Are you?!

Charles saw that Magi had bruised her ankle upon the fall. Without giving it a second thought he picked her and carried her into the frozen foods section of the market. He opened the door of one of the fridges and they got in. Now surrounded by frozen pizza and froze hot pockets they waited.

Magi: Chars what are we waiting for?

Charles: Shh, they'll be here any minute now.

Just as he said that some catgirls arrived. Meowing and purring around the supermarket looking for whatever made the sound. Charles knew the catgirls would be attracted to the loud sound of the shelf tipping over so he grabbed Magi and rushed her to the safest place he could find. That being the frozen food sections since catgirls hate the cold that would be the last place they checked.

Charles: *whispering* Damn it Magi, what were you thinking.

Magi: I'm sorry, I just wanted some bubble gum.

Their words turned into fog, their fingertips felt like popsicles. This was bad, the cold was too much to handle, especially for little Magi. They both started to shake from the freezing temperature, Magi's pale cheeks had turned bright red as well as her nose. They couldn't leave the fridge because the catgirls were still roaming around. This was a serious dilemma, what will Charles do? Risk leaving the fridge and getting caught out by the catgirls? Or stay and possibly freeze to death?
