Chapter 6: A Team of Two

Charles: Magi. *nudging her* Magi wake up damn it.

Morning came, their clothes had finished drying thanks to the campfire. Charles was trying to wake up Magi, this was always a problem because Magi was not a morning person. If it was up to Magi she would sleep all the way till noon.

Charles: Magi, come on don't make me get you up the ugly way.

Magi continued to snore, she was not waking up so Charles had no choice. He grabbed a bucket filled with water and tossed it on her. It wasn't enough to drench her but just enough to wake her up.

Magi: Wa- *crying* why?

Charles: Sorry Magi, you left me no choice. We can't be here all day. We finished the last of our food last night, which means we must go on a supply run.

This was going to be Magi's first supply run, just hearing it made her nervous and anxious. Before thinking more about the supply run they first had to find a way off the island. Sure Charles could just swim across with Magi on his back that would mean both of them would be soaked once again.

Magi: What is Chars doing?

Charles: Just help me gather some wood.

Charles was planning to make a small raft, although making it would take all day, it was the best chance they had to escape the island.

Magi: Chars! I found something.

Magi went off to search for wood like Charles asked her to and found something. It was a small canoe, hidden under some tall bushes. Impossible to see from Charles' height but just low enough for Magi to spot.

Charles: Awesome job Magi! This will save us a lot of time!

Magi felt proud of herself for finding the canoe, she felt like she was a valuable member of the team. With the wood that Charles had already gathered, they made paddles for the canoe. They got in and started to paddle their way off the island. Such a big lake in such a big park, yea that made sense. Once at shore, they made it out of the park avoiding any napping catgirls.

Charles: Okay Magi, I know this is your first time going on a supply run but I can't leave you around by yourself.

Charles didn't want to bring up the memory of Magi's parents going on a supply run and never coming back. That is the last thing he wanted, plus this could be good training for Magi, she would eventually have to learn how to do supply runs. Magi nodded and Charles gave her instructions.

Charles: They are 3 simple rules when doing a supply run. One of them is to be as silent as possible. Noise attracts catgirls and that's the last thing we want, so we will be using hand signals.

Charles explained to Magi some simple hand signals, signals like when to move, when to stop, when to hide and when to run. Magi just nodded her head as she played close attention to all the instructions that Charles gave her.

Charles: The next rule is never go anywhere alone. I don't want you wondering anywhere by yourself. You have to stay in my line of sight the whole time. Do you understand? And the last rule and perhaps the most important one is if a catgirl spots us. I want you to drop everything you're doing and run. Doesn't matter if you leave all things behind, we can always find more, but just promise me you'll run to safety if anything bad like that happens.

Magi was scared, Charles made the supply run sound like something terrible would happen. But Charles was just worried for the 5-year-old, he just wanted to guarantee her safety at all cost. And with that in mind Charles gave Magi a bag for her to put her supply in, and they got ready to raid a supermarket that was close by.
