Focused on Him

The next morning Izuku made his way down to breakfast, a wide smile on his face. Everything had gone perfectly to plan and all the other students were none the wiser. The experiment was bubbling away in his dorm room and he predicted it would be done by Wednesday evening. Although, it took him all night to get it set up, so Izuku didn't get much sleep, once again.

Yet, he still came skipping down the hall, oblivious to the shocked looks he got from his classmates. It was the first time in over three days anyone had seen him outside his dorm except for class yesterday.

"Deku?" Uraraka caught his attention as he made his way towards the kitchen, "You're joining us for breakfast?"

Izuku chuckled at her astonished tone, "Yeah! Let me go grab some food and I'll meet you at the table."

When the greenette entered the kitchen, who did he run into? None other than Katsuki Bakugou, obviously. The explosive blonde was leaning against the counter, watching something crackling in the pan on the stove. He hadn't seemed to noticed Izuku was there, so he quietly turned around and...

"So, the damn nerd finally decided to emerge from his hobbit hole." Bakugou spoke without even glancing over.

"I was just coming in to get some breakfast." Izuku said meekly, running a hand through his hair and making his way towards the cupboards.

Bakugou scoffed, "Oh, I thought you were going to take a piss in the sink. No shit, you're making breakfast! I'm not an idiot."

"I never said you were, Kacchan." Izuku muttered quietly. He walked over to a cupboard near Bakugou to grab a bowl for the cereal he pulled out. The bowls, however, were just a shelf too high for the slightly short boy, so he had to stretch on his tip toes.

Sure, the greenette had gained a couple of inches over the past two years, but who would decide to put the bowls on the highest shelf? They use the bowls all the time! Put them on the bottom shelf where they're more accessible and move the lesser used dishes to the top! It was almost like it was set up to make him feel bad for being small or some cliche romance moment planned by the author.

By this point, Bakugou looked up to see his struggle. He was just fine with leaving the poor boy to his own devices until he noticed Izuku try to balance precariously on the counter top, his knees barely on the surface.

"Fu- Izuku! Ask for some damn help before you go fall and break your ass! God, and you wonder why you end up in Recovery Girl's office all the time." Bakugou grabbed Izuku's forearms, pulling him down, before reaching for one of the bowls the boy was risking his neck for.

He shoved the bowl into Izuku's arms then slammed the door of the cabinet shut with a loud bang. Izuku flinched and some students glanced in their direction before being deterred by the angry boy's glare. The greenette was shocked at what Bakugou had done. Not only had he gotten him the bowl, but he had also helped him down from the counter. More like forced him down, but still, there was no malice to his grip on Izuku's arms. In fact, it was almost gentle.

"Th... thanks, Kacchan." Izuku choked out.

The blonde scoffed a 'whatever' before continuing his work on the stove. Turns out he had been making bacon and eggs for breakfast, which finished cooking during the skirmish. Bakugou slid his breakfast onto a plate and stomped out of the kitchen.

A few seconds later, Izuku finished making his bowl of cereal and was about to take a bite before heading over to the table with his friends, when he realized something...

    Had Kacchan called me 'Izuku'???

"Alright, students!"Aizawa spoke above the chatter, "I've assigned you a group project over this next week. It's an essay over the importance of hero work; how it impacts the world and what it means to you. This is a group assignment. For one, I don't want to have to read twenty different essays, but I also believe this is a good opportunity to see how others' value heroes and maybe if their reasoning for becoming one has changed. I want all of your opinions in there, whether they differ or are similar.
