Smoke.
So much smoke and dust in the air, it was getting difficult to breathe.
Izuku hadn't realized how bad it was until the darkness let up and he found himself sprawled out on the ground. He looked around, trying to spot any sign of the League still being there. There was none. In fact, the only people on the field were his classmates. Almost everyone was passed out or slowly coming to consciousness. Very few were actually up and walking around.
One of those was Todoroki. He was leaning over Izuku, his heterochromic eyes filled with concern. It was a fascinating sight to behold. Two different colored eyes containing the exact same emotion. Were his eyes always that stunning? The duel colored hair, disheveled from the throws of battle, blew into the boy's face and made it messier than before. Yet, it didn't make him any less handsome.
His lips were moving. Izuku didn't think to actually listen to the words coming out of Todoroki's mouth, he was so mesmerized by the movement. His lips moved to form the perfect syllable, consonant, and vowel.
"...h e a r m e, midoriya? Midoriya!?"
Izuku's brain could barely register what Todoroki was saying. His thoughts were jumbled and his head felt like mush. He pushed himself upright, Todoroki immediately supporting him by his shoulders.
"What happened?" Izuku groaned, holding his head as his blood rushed and left him dizzy.
"What do you remember?" Todoroki responded.
"I remember preparing for training, then the League attacked, and... this weird smoke came in and I passed out."
Todoroki nodded, looking almost relieved by his response. He was probably making sure I didn't have a major concussion or any brain trauma.
"The fight didn't last very long," Todoroki informed Izuku, "My guess is they knew they couldn't take the entire class on with only four of them, so they released a gas to make everyone pass out. When I came to, the League was gone." Todoroki glanced around at the other students. More were waking up by now and some were helping others to their feet. Izuku looked around. He spotted Uraraka hovering over a still unconscious Iida and Asui making her way towards them. The greenette moved to get to his feet but Todoroki grabbed his shoulder.
"Midoriya, you shouldn't overwork yourself."
"I'm not, I'm just going over to Uraraka. Help me out." Izuku slung an arm over Todoroki's shoulders and the taller male, begrudgingly, help him hobble over to the group.
"Is Iida okay?" Izuku asked Uraraka.
She nodded, "He's breathing fine and his heart rates normal, I just hope he wakes up soon."
"He will, Uraraka!" Izuku tried to reassure her.
"At least we're all alive." Asui reminded them. They all nodded their heads in solemn agreement.
"How's your head, Midoriya?" Todoroki asked.
"I'm fine, just a little dizzy. It's really no big deal."
"You probably have a concussion. We'll need to get you to Recovery Girl and check..."
"I'm fine, Todoroki. Really!" Izuku interrupted, trying to reassure the heterochromic male.
"Um... has anyone seen Tokoyami?" Asui asked, her large eyes surveying the field. The students were starting to congregate in the center of the field near their group.
