Izuku woke the next morning in his bed, alone, and confused. He could have swore he hadn't put himself to bed last night. He was up with Todoroki and Bakugou working on the assignment, they started arguing, and then... oh. He must have fallen asleep. The greenette slapped a hand to his forehead. He totally passed out in the middle of everything, leaving all the work on the other two.
"I should probably apologize to them. Todoroki will understand, but I doubt Kacchan will be so forgiving." Izuku muttered to his empty bedroom.
He quickly got up and walked over to his closet. The boy was acutely aware that he was still in his casual clothes from the day before while he changed into his school uniform. Reaching for his backpack, Izuku remembered the glass beaker was still hiding behind it.
The solution had sat overnight in the dark closet and was due to be done by that afternoon. It was glowing much brighter now than it was the night before. In fact, it seemed to be illuminating the space slightly, neon green crept its way up the walls of the closet barely reaching the ceiling. Izuku couldn't remember if glowing was a byproduct of the reaction. Instead he left the beaker in its place and shut the closet. He'd worry about that later.
Making his way into the common room, Izuku spotted the two people he wanted to talk to... talking to each other. Like, actually talking. No yelling, snippy comebacks, or name calling. He would have smiled at Todoroki and Bakugou chatting civilly, but the looks on their faces made him concerned.
Bakugou's eyes looked dull and sad. The corners of his mouth were turned down. He looked remorseful. An expression very foreign on the blonde. Todoroki, on the other hand, had his brows furrowed as he stared at the other intensely. If his hands weren't shoved in his pockets, Izuku would have probably seen his fist curled tightly into a fist.
What the...
And then it was gone. Almost as if it never never existed, the expression on Todoroki's face softened before he reclined on the wall Bakugou had himself braced against. His lips were moving, but Izuku was too far to hear what was being said.
The common room was completely empty at the moment, it was still fairly early though Izuku hadn't bothered to check the time when he had awoken that morning. It felt weird. With no one else in the room, Izuku felt like he was witnessing something private... and he probably was.
That feeling was only magnified when Izuku watched as the tall, heterochromic male pulled the other into a comforting hug. Izuku expected the blonde to blast Todoroki to the other side of the room, but Bakugou seemed to resist only a little before accepting the embrace. Izuku was shocked to say the least.
Shocked and a little... well... he couldn't identify the feeling. It was like he wanted to run up and tear the two apart, but, at the same time, he wanted to join in.
He couldn't dwell too much on the feeling because Bakugou noticed the greenette staring and immediately jerked away from Todoroki. He leaned back against the wall, refusing to make eye contact with anyone.
"What the hell are you going up, Deku? I wouldn't expect you to be up this early in the morning with how damn tired you were yesterday." He grunted.
"I'm getting ready for school." Izuku stated, quietly. He was rather embarrassed at being caught even though they were in a public space. "And it's not that early."
"It's six in the morning, Midoriya." Todoroki spoke up, "We don't have school for another two hours."
Izuku took a moment to process the information before speaking again, "Well then maybe I should ask why the two of you are up this early."
