"This isn't the end, Persi," Chaos told me. Apollo had sat me up, so I was looking at her in the eye.
"What do you mean it isn't the end? Andy stole my fucking powers, and from what I hear, you can't just give them back when they're all gone! Let's not forget that my immortality is one of my powers too, so in three tears when this damn curse has finished pillaging all my abilities, I will be able to die!" Even though I couldn't move, I was pacing in my mind.
"Most of the time, there is a password that cancels out the curse, so it requires less energy." Chaos' voice was forceful this time.
"Don't. Just stop. I cannot have false hope. Not right now."
Chaos walked up to the bed. "They're trying to torture it out of him now, they've even pulled the more extreme methods that they haven't done yet."
"Has he even given any indication that there even is a password?" Chaos looked down. "I thought so." I took a deep breath and closed my eyes. "Tell them to stop."
"What?" Apollo interjected.
"Tell them to stop for a few weeks- Tartarus time, of course- and then go at it harder than before."
Realization shone through Chaos' eyes before she pulled out her phone to call Tartarus. We listened to the phone call that she put on speakerphone, and we heard the tortured screams in the background.
"Hey, hey, hey! Shut the hell up! I'm on the phone!" Tartarus yelled at the screamers. "I'm sorry, what were you saying?"
"You need to pause the interrogation on Andy Robles."
"But we need the password so Persi won't die when she loses her powers!" Wait, what. I gave Chaos a look, and she held up her finger in a one moment motion.
"I am well aware of the risks that come with a Primordial heir losing their powers! I know the chances of power withdrawal are high-"
"Kira, Ann, Kindir, Alex, and Pomorn. They were our champions! I mean, Kira was yours, and so was Alex! I get it, Persi is the first one who was already a champion- to the eldest son and daughter of Kronos no less- but that doesn't mean she won't get it the withdrawal!"
Chaos looked down as soon as the first name was dropped. I looked at her curiously and stared, even more, when it looked like she was going to cry.
"You did not have to bring them into this." Chaos' voice was full of emotion- like she was holding back a flood of tears- but firm too. I don't know who these people- these past champions- are, but I could tell they meant a lot to the Primordials, so much so that whatever happened to these guys still hurts the Primordials to the point where they can't talk about them.
"Alex died 2 days after getting it, and Kira was in a coma for 6 months before the strain was too much on her!"
"Believe me, I remember clearly." It was clear Tartarus was not done talking before Chaos interrupted.
"Kindir was my champion until one of Order's lackies stole his powers somehow, and he went through the withdrawal! He died after 2 weeks of intense pain and hallucinations! I will not let Persi die!"
"Tartarus, stop! Okay?"
"No! I will not let history repeat!"
"Pause the torture! That is an order!" There was a grunt and a crash before the phone cut out. Chaos looked up at us and realized we were there. She muttered a curse under her breath. "Uh, sorry about that."
Apollo started freaking out about the death part and rapidly asked Chaos a gagillion questions, but I was more concerned about the people.
"Who was he talking about." My voice was curious and soft, and I made sure not to let any other emotions show. She sat down and told Apollo that she will answer his questions while she answers mine.
