The glass doors glide open and I walk through them to greet him. The nerves I feel quickly erupt to excitement as he looks up and flashes a smile in my direction.

"Long time, no see," he jokes.

"Oh yeah, a whole 8 hours. Miss me much?" I say. He shakes his head in laughter and goes to open the passenger side door for me. I follow behind and slide myself onto the leather seat. He rounds the front of the car to climb in on his side and as he does he looks over to me with a smile.

"I'm so glad you're here," he says. "I wasn't sure you were going to agree, given I asked so bluntly."

I let out a little laugh. "I mean, I'll give you that much. It was a very blunt way of asking someone out, but blunt isn't a bad thing in my opinion. I think it's bold, you know what you want and you aren't afraid to say it," I reply.

"Well I'm glad you see it that way, Charlie," he says, grinning ear to ear.

He starts the car and weaves his way into the busy streets of New York like a pro. The soft sound of the radio plays as we ride in a sweet silence for just a few moments.

"Sooooo are you not going to tell me where you're taking me?" I ask.

He glances back over at me and with a shake of his head he says "Nope, total surprise. S'get ready."

I let out a playful sigh and say "Well that's unfortunate, I really am not one for surprises actually. I'm a total type A personality, I need to know exactly what is going on at every moment. Borderline control freak and you know what? I'm proud of it."

"Well I love surprises, they keep you on your toes. Loosen up," he says. "Let the wind take you where it wants to go,"

"Poetic," I sarcastically reply.

We small talk for the next 15 or so minutes until we make it to our destination. I actually learn a good bit about him as we do, he loves Stevie Nicks, a massive obsession with old vinyls, and is a sucker for a good rom com. All things that make me even more attracted to him that I already am. (Which I didn't even know was possible.)

The place to which we arrive is a little different than what I expected. I was thinking of some fancy shmancy restaurant where the stars all gather, but this is a million times better and far more me. It's a lookout, a small overhang that gives a clear view of the city. It's dusk so the city is starting to sparkle. I admire the view as Harry reaches around to the backseat and grabs a bag. From it he pulls a bottle of wine, two glasses, and a prepackaged charcuterie board which he sits on the dash to make accessible to both of us.

"Are you a mind reader or something?" I question him playfully, "Because I swear, these are all my favorite things. Cheese, wine, and a view of the city? What else could a girl ask for."

"Oh really? Maybe I am," he responds back playfully. "It's nothing fancy, I didn't want to overwhelm you with the masses that follow my every move. I don't want to scare you off just yet," he says with a smirk. "Plus, I wanted this to be more personal. Really have a chance to talk and get to know you."

"This is perfect, just my speed," I say with a soft smile. "The city at night is probably one of the most beautiful things in the world to me."

"I've never heard that before," he says. "Enlighten me,"

"I find it fascinating that there is a city that, quite literally, never is completely asleep. Back home I swear the entire town goes dark at 10pm. There are always lights on in the city, cars honking, people moving. I find it comforting to know I am never completely alone here," I say.

"And why is that?" Harry says, completely interested in every word I am saying.

"Um- well not to get too deep... But, uh I have a lot of trouble sleeping. I'm super restless, so a lot of times I will end up awake at some ungodly hour of the morning and will just sit at the window in my apartment and look at the lights," I say. I'm exaggerating the truth just a touch but I can't dump all of my problems on him. I mean for gods sake I just met him a week ago, he'll think I'm insane. "It just gives me a sense of peace knowing that there are other people awake when I am. Knowing that I am not completely alone in this big city where I don't know, well really anyone, gives me a comfort that's hard to explain."

"I've never thought of it that way, it's beautiful really." He says with the softest smile on his face.

"I like to think of each light I see as a different person, a different story," I continue on. "I like to think of stories for each of the lights I see. Maybe one is on top of the world, just got into their dream school or got a raise at work. But maybe another has hit rock bottom, it just reminds me that people all have different stories. We come from different places, have different stories, and different reasons for being here. But we are all united by one common thing and that is the hustle and bustle of New York City. And something about that is alluring to me."

He stares at me for a minute, no expression on his face. I start to feel a sense of anxiety come up inside of me. Did I say something wrong? Did I sound insane? Does he think I'm crazy for putting so much thought into some stupid lights? All completely possible reasons he's looking at me so strangely.

I am completely taken off guard as he places an elbow on the center console and leans in to grab my cheek with his hand and brushes his thumb across it ever so slightly before he places a kiss on it.

He pulls back and smiles at me for a moment before he says "You have a beautiful mind, Charlie."

I feel my face flush instantaneously as I nervously smile to the floor, not knowing how to take such a kind compliment.

He waits another moment before grabbing my cheek once more and moving my face where our eyes can meet.

"You are beautiful, Charlie Matthews." he says. He pauses again for a moment as we gaze into each other's eyes and then moves in to place the softest and sweetest kiss on my lips. And I swear in that moment the entire world is standing still, and I want it to stay that way forever.
