My First Summer (Completed)

Chapter 1

"Are you fine, Mitchie?" Mom asked while driving. I faced her and just nod, smiling a bit. "Don't worry, malapit na tayo sa destinasyon natin."

We're in our way now to a place where locals and tourists look forward to every fun-filled summer adventure, La Union.

After I was discharged from the hospital, I rest for one week to obtain my energy I was lost. I did exercise, hoping my heart beats back to normal, but doesn't. It's still the same. Sometimes my heart aches, but I hide it to Mom. I don't want her to worry. She's become drown if she know what I feel. Hindi ko kayang pati siya masasaktan dahil sa kalagayan ko.

I lost my hope to be healed by my doctor. Maybe, hindi na ako gagaling. I will wait my time to gone.

Mom agreed with my favor. She let me do what I wish for.

Because of excitement, I instanly surfed last night to the internet and search for a place where I can spend my summer. And there, I got interested with Elyu.

They celebrate summer every year, and yes, I saw in the internet that that was fun to join their events. You could experience summer there in different ways. Not only a vacation thingy you can discover there. Also, recreation, family and 'barkadas' gatherings and their foods are good and inevitable to eat.

Base to the articles I've read about that place, since the province is located both near the mountains and seas, every summer, they organize many activities to do, such as hiking, biking, kayaking, trekking, surfing, jet-skiing and of course swimming.

After I discover those things about Elyu, I decided to enjoy and experience there my first and maybe my last summer. Gusto kong i-enjoy ang nalalabi kong oras dito sa mundo. I will explore everything with my own before I passed away. I will build and collect memories within one month to that place and bring those with me in paradise.

"Mitchie, saktong pang isang buwan ba yung mga baon mong damit para sa camping? Tell me if not para makapagbili tayo before we enter your camp site," paninigurado ni Mom habang ang atensiyon ay sa daan parin. Mang Isko is not free to drive us that's why Mom did. He came home yesterday in his province because his family needs him.

"Yes, Mom. I have lots of clothes in my suitcase. Nothing gonna problem,"

"How about your medicines? Dala mo ba lahat? Wala kang may nakalimutan?"

"Opo, Mom. I brought all my meds."

"Good, anak. How about-"

"Mom! Everything's fine. Dala ko lahat ng kakailanganin ko doon. My things are already complete. Kung may kulang sa mga gamit doon na lang tayo bumili sa camp site. Meron naman sigurong nagtitinda doon diba?" I answered.

"Okay, anak. Alam mo naman ang nanay mo, napaka-protective sayo dahil nag-aalala sa sakit mo," she responded and sigh.

I forced a smile, "alam ko po. I love you, Mom."

She glance at me for a second, smiling and back her gaze to the road. "Mahal ka din ni Mommy, anak."

Namayani ang katahimikan sa aming dalawa. She just focus in driving.

"Mom?"

"Hmm?"

I hemmed. "Is it neccesary that you're needed there? I mean, kaya ko naman Mom-"

"Mitchie Ann Garcia," she warned, made my mouth shut. She's dead serious, "you need me there. Honey, napag-usapan na natin 'to diba? I letted you to experience your dream, but in return, I should be there to guard and watch after you, right? What if something wrong happen? Ako lang ang makakasama mo doon na alam ang sitwasyon mo, anak. Ako ang pwede mong mahingan ng tulong doon kung kailangan mo man. Nate can't accompany you because he has important matter to do," malumanay at mahaba niyang sambit. Pinahinto na niya ang sasakyan.
