Trying to go Home

We decide today was the day I'd go home. It had been three days since we got Violet back, and I haven't heard back from the police. Though we were still a bit skeptical, we agreed that it would just be me and Violet. I just had to keep my phone on me at all times.

We spent the day at Namjoon's house and went home around Vi's bedtime. I gave her a bath and put her in one of her own nightgowns before laying her down and going downstairs since she didn't want a story tonight. After showering and checking on her, I went downstairs and turned on the TV. The news was on. And it wasn't good.

"Wang disappeared from this house earlier this week, and police say they still haven't found him."

I didn't hear whatever she said next, I just shut the TV off and stared at the wall.

Why wouldn't the police tell me?

I suddenly remembered that I had left my phone in the bathroom and got up to get it. But as I got up and turned toward the hallway, I was stopped.

"Miss me?"

"Why are you in my house, Jackson."

"I'm here for my daughter." He was slowly stepping closer, causing me to back away. "And this time, no one's gonna stop me." My back was against the wall.

"You're not taking her anywhere." He started tracing his hand up my arm, making my skin tingle.

"I beg to differ," he whispered as he slowly wrapped his hand around my throat, lightly squeezing. I shut my eyes and took a deep breath, trying to keep my thoughts straight.

"S-stop. G-get out of my house." I saw a shadow out of the corner of my eye. Without breaking eye contact, I focused on the window I saw the shadow come from. It was Namjoon. "The back door's unlocked, you could just slip out and no one would see you go." I made sure to raise my voice just slightly, just enough that Namjoon could hear it through the window but it didn't seem suspicious to Jackson. The figure in the window disappeared toward the back door.

"You're so cute when you beg. Too bad you're little boyfriend's not here to save you." I couldn't help but laugh.

"You don't look like you're in any position to call him little." He snarled, pressing harder on my throat.

"You little-" he was interrupted when someone spun him around, punching him and throwing him to the floor. As soon as he was on the ground, I ran into the tall man's arms.

"Why are you here?"

"You forgot your necklace." He pulled the small locket from his pocket, clasping it around my neck. I had left it on the coffee table this morning while we were playing with the dogs. I was about to thank him when Jackson started to get off the floor. Namjoon pushed me behind him.

"Go get Violet." I immediately ran to her room, grabbing my phone from the bathroom on the way there.

I shut the door behind me, locking it and leaning against it while I called the police. About ten minutes and a dozen crashes later, I heard the sirens. When I heard the front door swing open and shouting, I grabbed Violet and went to the living room. It was trashed, and Namjoon was standing in the middle of it trying to catch his breath. I could hear Jackson yelling outside.

"Are you ok?" I asked.

"Yeah, he's just surprisingly agile." He turned toward me and I could see two large bruises forming on the left side of his face.

"Jesus, your face!"

"I know. Beautiful isn't it?" I lightly slapped his arm, causing him to chuckle. "We should go to my house and deal with this tomorrow."

"Yeah, that's a good idea. Let me grab a few things." I was about to turn back to the hallway when he stopped me.

"Um, I could hold her while you get your stuff. If that's ok." I hesitated for a moment. So many things had happened these past few days, I didn't want to leave her alone with anyone. But it was Namjoon....

"Um, yeah, that's ok." He slowly lifted her from my arms and hurried to grab what we needed before leaving.
