Yes, yes, I know I'm back to talking about this game. But fuck, this game won't leave my head and I just keep getting mixed emotions and thoughts on things that happened in this game. I also keep going back and forth on whether I like the game or not. I'm so conflicted.
Maybe this just shows how much I loved the first game and was just baffled at the choices that were made in the sequel I can't stop thinking about it. Or maybe, like I have said, I see the potential of this game and it is just frustrating cause I see the good in this game but it is bogged down by some of the bad and the structure and pacing of the game.
Abby has become the most hated and most controversial character in, not just games, all of media. And yes, I know she has fans that love her but like among most fans of TLOU franchise, she is hated.
And people that defend Abby say to the people that hate her "well, you just don't like her cause she killed Joel" and that's one of the reason but there are so many other things about her that people hate.
But I now want to talk about everyone's favorite character (sarcasm), Abby Anderson.
And I'm gonna give you why I don't like Abby.
Before I really go into it, I wanna say this: I have no hate towards Laura Bailey, the actress that played Abby. Even though I didn't like her character, I thought she did a great job with what she had to work with.
She was only doing what Neil Druckmann directed her to do and what the script told her to do.
I thought her acting was just as good as Troy's and Ashley's. I'm saying this cause there was the controversy of where some fans were sending her death threats because of Abby killing Joel. And that is just stupid; people need to realize that this is a game, not real life.
I also want to say about her physical look. I'm not a fitness expert but, correct me if I'm wrong, but to keep those kinds of muscle, besides working out in a gym; shouldn't she be eating like alot of calories and/or protein?
So how is she able to get that kind've food when in their world, food is scarce?
I mean, if anyone knows about fitness and how the female body works in fitness, please let me know if I'm wrong.
So with that said, let's talk about the character.
Now yes, her killing Joel is one of the reasons I hate her but that would've been fine if Naughty Dog set her up as the main antagonist of the game like they were doing in the first half of the game.
I mean, who doesn't love/hate a good villian?
But Naughty Dog tried something different. They tried to make us sympathize with her on the second half of the game.
And honestly, that's too little too late kind've scenario where that's concerned.
Once she killed Joel, she was, and is, irredeemable in my eyes.
And I get it. Joel killed her father, who was the surgeon from the ending of the first game. I get that; but that's the only reason why she killed him, not because what Joel took away from humanity.
Also, her father was willing to kill Ellie without asking her consent. I know some people will say well Marlene gave him her blessing but they still should've woken Ellie and asked her.
What's funny is that his death really reminds me of Glenn and Abraham's death in the Walking Dead. I remember everyone hated Negan after that and that everyone wanted him dead.
But now everyone likes him and think he is a cool dude. And part of that is because Negan is a very charismatic, funny, slightly charming, guy.
And eventually, Negan is remorseful for the things he's done and is actually working hard to redeem himself.
