The next day came and went. Alyssa spent most of her time at home, finishing some stuff for her college courses, while Kassi worked another shift at a local diner.
Both girls decided to act as if the night before hadn't happened, even though deep down, they were anticipating something. They tried not to think too much of it, for they didn't want to get their hopes up only to be disappointed. So instead, they ignored the prior events altogether and kept it as a little secret they shared.
"I'm home, Lys!" Kassi announced as she walked through the front door of their apartment.
When she reached the living room, she found Alyssa lounged across the sofa with multiple papers scattered amongst her feet.
"Hey, Kas," she greeted briefly without looking up. "How was work?"
"A lot busier than usual," Kassi noted before setting her stuff down on the dinner table.
She just stood there; contemplating how she was going to address a certain thought she knew Alyssa had been purposely keeping hostage at the back of her head for the duration of the day. Despite their subtle agreement of keeping it under wraps, Kassi was practically aching to talk about it.
Last night was surreal and her mind only continued to buzz the longer she thought about it. She didn't really understand why Alyssa was trying so hard to forget when Kassi knew she felt the same as she did.
"Lys, do you think--"
"Let's not get ahead of ourselves, yeah?" Alyssa interrupted her with a sigh. "Have any of them called or texted you at all?"
Kassi shook her head dejectedly. "They're probably just busy--"
"Being a famous band? Yeah, I know," Alyssa interrupted again.
"It's okay, sunshine," Kassi soothed, settling down next to her distraught friend. "I have a good feeling about this."
"You've always been the optimist of the two of us," Alyssa mused, smiling up at her.
All of a sudden, Kassi's phone went off, indicating that she got a text. Exchanging a look, they both peered over at it before Kassi slid it open to read.
"It's from Luke!" She exclaimed, squealing.
"What's it say?" Alyssa prodded with a grin.
"Hey Kassi, Luke here. Just wondering if you wouldn't mind dropping by the forum after the concert tonight to hang out! It'd be nice to see you again x Luke," she read out loud, nearly dropping her phone.
Alyssa smiled widely. "Go on, answer it. You should probably tell him how you'd like to have his babies while you're at it," she teased, stringing a laugh from Kassi.
"Maybe I will," Kassi joked before tapping in her compliance to his invite.
Right as she hit send, another sound filled the air and they realized that it had come from Alyssa's phone.
Kassi eyed her knowingly. "Told you."
Rolling her eyes, Alyssa quickly grabbed it, blushing when she saw Calum's name on the screen. "It's from Calum."
Kassi gasped before smirking. "Come on, tell me what it says."
"He says..." Alyssa cleared her throat, dropping her voice an octave in an attempt to sound manlier. "Alyssa, I'd like to see you again tonight. Reckon you come to our show later? We have backstage passes with your names on them (: hope to see you soon x."
They both laughed before Alyssa tapped in her reply and returned her attention back to Kassi.
"Luke says to be at the back of arena by eight to get our tickets and passes," Kassi informed her with a grin. "Oh no, which means we only have about two and a half hours to get ready!"
Alyssa snorted, finding her friend's worry amusing as she started getting her papers together. "Calm down, Kas. We'll be fine."
"No, we won't!" Kassi yelped as she stood up abruptly, nearly knocking Alyssa in face in the process. "I don't have anything to wear! And you're in sweats. Let's go, go, go!"
Laughing once again, Alyssa obliged and together they prepared themselves for yet another night with 5 Seconds of Summer.
. . .
The concert was phenomenal as usual. The seats the girls got were much closer than what they got the night before. It gave them the perfect view of each boy bouncing around and having a good time and it was a sight Kassi and Alyssa would never get tired of seeing.
When it ended, they waited until the arena emptied out before they were both soon guided towards the back of the stage. With every passing second, their nervousness began to arise. As they entered a corridor, they quickly showed the security their passes and were then led to the end of the hall until they reached what they presumed was the boys' dressing room. Together, they both thanked the man and watched him depart before turning towards each other and smiling widely.
"It's happening, Lys, how do you feel?" Kassi questioned, excitement exploding in her eyes.
"More importantly, how do you feel about getting to see your future husband for a second time?" Alyssa countered, reaching up and preparing to knock on the door.
"Do you even have to ask?" Kassi retorted before beating Alyssa to it.
"Hey!" Alyssa yelped, gasping.
Kassi laughed. "Sorry, I can't wait any longer."
In a matter of moments, the door swung open, revealing a very sweaty Ashton with a smile on his face.
"Whoa," he sounded. "It's been a while since I've seen you guys."
He jokingly winked at them before gesturing them inside. Entering the room, they were immediately met with three long bodies sprawled across the furniture and floor. Limbs that went on for days were draped over tables and chairs, while bits of food and wrinkly articles of clothing were scattered around them.
"Guys! Kassi and Alyssa are here," Ashton announced, causing all three of the boys to spring from their reverie.
Luke was quick to get up from his laying position on the floor and made an effort to adjust his shirt. Glancing up and catching sight of Kassi, he smiled as he walked up to her, pulling her in for one of his famous hugs.
"Glad you could make it," he told her, leading her to a chair and chatting away as if they had known each other forever.
Kassi was ecstatic to see this and quickly greeted Michael, who looked positively shattered, and was soon joined by Ashton. Alyssa stayed behind, standing awkwardly at the front of the room, and noticed Calum still seated on the couch with a pair of sunglasses on his face. It appeared as though he was back to resting again, but she wasn't quite sure. He hadn't even acknowledged that they were here.
"Lys!" Kassi called out, catching her eye. "Come on."
Giving Calum one last look, Alyssa gave one bob of her shoulders, dismissing the thought and joining everyone else.
