Kassi was in the midst of chopping some vegetables when a loud noise from the living room startled her, causing her to lose her grip on the knife in her hand and accidentally slicing a bit of her skin in the process. She hissed sharply and immediately dropped everything, grabbing her hand instead.
"Oh no," she whimpered, bringing her finger up to her mouth to suck on the blood.
Luke was at her side in an instant and held her punctured hand, inspecting it with a keen eye.
"Let's rinse it out," he stated before leading her to the kitchen sink.
"I could have done that--" Kassi started but he shushed her.
"Do you have a first aid kit or anything?" He asked, glancing around the kitchen.
"Above the fridge," she replied while nodding her head in that direction.
Leaving her at the sink for only a moment, he returned to her after she had thoroughly rinsed the cut and pulled out a bandaid from the pouch. There's a silence that fills the air while he proceeded to aid her petty injury and when he was done, he looked down at her, appearing very proud of himself.
"There," he stated with a smile and grabbed her hand, bringing it up to his lips and kissing it firmly. "All better."
Kassi's heart fluttered at his sweetness as she smiled back at him. "Thank you."
"Now, let's get this dinner finished yeah?" He said, returning to his cutting board. "I reckon the boys will be cranky if it isn't finished soon."
Laughing lightly, Kassi only nodded and kept her hand close to her while she too returned to her cutting board. She couldn't help but smile to herself as she stared at her bandaged hand.
For a while, both of them just continued to cut, but suddenly, Luke dropped his knife and Kassi turned to him questioningly.
"Do you like watching movies?" He asked out of the blue.
She stared at him for a bit. "I love them."
"Good, that's great," he muttered, laughing nervously. "Do you want to maybe... See one with me? I mean, not at this very moment, but soon, like in a couple of days, just whenever you're free really."
Kassi laughed at his sudden word vomit. "I would love to, Luke," she complied, biting on her lip to contain her huge smile.
His eyes widened, almost as if he didn't expect the answer that he got and smiled also.
"Really? That's good, that's great. I'm excited." He flinched, his voice cracking as he bit on his lip ring.
"Me too," Kassi giggled again and returned to cooking; unable to get over how Luke's awkwardness was just too much to handle.
. . .
In a knick of time, dinner was served and everyone helped themselves to a steaming bowl of Kassi's signature pasta while they gathered around in the living room to watch a movie.
Calum and Alyssa had joined the rest of the group eventually, acting as casual as possible, but that didn't stop them from exchanging cheeky glances at each other. Kassi noticed this and stared Alyssa down until she got the message that she was in need of some explaining. Of course, Alyssa obliged, but not until everyone was done with their bowls and both girls were cleaning up in the kitchen while the boys continued watching the movie.
"You little minx!" Kassi chastised with a gasp before whipping Alyssa with a dish rag. Alyssa yelped, glaring at her.
"We didn't do anything outrageous," Alyssa argued as she started soaping up the dirty dishes. "I promise."
"Look," Kassi started, standing beside Alyssa at the sink. "I'm not going to tell you what to do because that would be really rude of me, but I want you to be careful, okay? Sure, I know it's fun, but I just don't want you to get hurt!"
Alyssa rolled her eyes. "I've already established this little fling we've got going on. Maybe I don't want anything serious at the moment. A little excitement in my life isn't a bad thing, Kas."
"I know, babe," Kassi noted as she started rinsing out the dishes. "But I am certified in ass-kicking so know that I won't hesitate to shove that bass up his--"
"Hey!" They both heard Michael shout from the living room. "What's taking you guys so long? Brad Pitt is stomping the shit out of this zombie's head right now!"
Smiling at each other, they quickly finished up before walking back to the group of boys. Kassi returned to her spot next to Luke on the couch as Alyssa remained standing and yawned, suddenly realizing that it was almost past midnight.
"Oh my, well would you look at the time," she exclaimed out loud, pausing the movie. "It's getting late and I sure am exhausted. Kassi, boys, you guys can continue to watch if you want, I'll just head to bed."
"You want Calum to join you?" Ashton commented with a chuckle before Calum reached over to smack him upside the head. "What the fuck?"
"Serves you right," Calum grumbled before grinning at Alyssa.
Shaking her head, Alyssa strolled over to Kassi to give her a hug goodnight and went around the room to do the same with the rest of them. "Thank you guys for coming, I hope to hang out with you soon."
"Definitely," Ashton chirped with a wink.
As she tried to pull away from Calum, he kept his arms around her, preventing her from standing up straight. Promptly, she grunted before losing her balance altogether and ended up falling rather awkwardly into Calum's lap.
"Shit, sorry," she gasped, trying to get up again.
"Oh, get a room," Luke complained while Kassi laughed.
"You can't escape cuddly Calum," Michael claimed somewhat ominously. "Once he's set on something to cuddle with, he won't stop until that something cuddles back."
Alyssa looked down at Calum, who was smiling up at her adorably and she couldn't help but laugh.
"Really? Seriously, Calum, knock it off."
In a matter of seconds, Calum had her thrown over his shoulder and she squealed, clearly caught off guard.
"C'mon, Alyssa," he claimed loudly. "Let's cuddle some place private and where we won't be judged!"
"So, basically, sexing her against her will," Michael shouted after them as Calum carried her down the hall and towards her bedroom.
Alyssa gasped again and sent Kassi a knowing look. Kassi, however, was too amused by all of this and only winked at her struggling friend.
"Have fun, Lys."
