Sarah barely dragged herself out of bed that morning, knowing she would be spending her entire morning in detention with Malfoy. She felt sick at the mere thought of it. Still, Sarah sucked it up because she was not about to risk another week of detention. Hopefully Draco would be in one of his more personable moods today; Knowing him and his connections, it was highly likely that he found some way to get out of detention.
As soon as Sarah finished getting ready for the day, she had to sprint to detention before she was late. She just made it to McGonagall's classroom, the place detention was being held on that gloomy Saturday morning, before the door was shut. "Nice to see you, Miss Lennon. I thought you were not going to appear at detention this morning."
Sarah, slightly out of breath, cheekily replied, "I wouldn't miss it for the world, Professor." Of course, that only earned Sarah a stern look and a finger pointed at one of the desks in the room. The only other person in the room besides her and Professor McGonagall was possibly her least favorite person on the face of the planet Earth, Draco Malfoy.
Before Sarah or Draco had the chance to make a snide remark, McGonagall began to spout out their instructions for the next hour and a half. "You two will be organizing the books behind you in alphabetical order. No magic is allowed to be used, and I will know if either of you even thought of performing magic. Now, get to work. I will be back to check on you two in thirty minutes." Draco and Sarah both turned on their heels to face the mountain of books that they were supposed to alphabetize. There had to be at least 150 books in all.
Sarah walked forward toward the stack while Draco walked back towards his seat instead. Sarah threw her head over her shoulder, glancing over at Draco. Once she saw that he did not intend to help her, Sarah grabbed the largest book she could find and started beating Draco over the head with it until he got up. "You are going to help, Malfoy! I'm only in here because I called you and Potter out for your pissing contest. So, get up and help. If you don't, I will literally murder you."
Draco chuckled and took his feet off the desk. He leaned forward, effectively pushing Sarah back onto the desk behind her. His hands rested on both sides of the desk; Sarah could not move even if she wanted to, and in that moment, she was not sure if she wanted to leave or she wanted Draco. Draco leaned closer towards Sarah. The tips of their noses were brushing as he said, "I don't like people telling me what to do, Lennon." He walked closer, one of his legs now in between Sarah's. Draco licked his lips as he looked her up and down. After what seemed to be an eternity, Draco told her, "I'll make an exception this one time, Lennon, but do remember to not get on my bad side." Draco leaned back and walked away from his position over Sarah. Sarah didn't know, but Draco was not only doing everything he could to get under her skin. He wanted to get under her robes too.
Malfoy quickly glanced over to see Sarah still sitting on the desk; his eyes caught hers as she hopped off the desk and fixed her skirt. The two began to work in unison as they alphabetized the entire collection of books, which ended up being 188 in total. No other words were spoken until McGonagall walked in to see how far they were. As it turns out, Draco Malfoy and Sarah Lennon made quite the team when they weren't at each other's throats, but the pair was always at each other's throats or wanted to be down them.

                                      •••
After Sarah's draining detention, she desperately needed a nap. She immediately fell asleep after she collapsed onto her bed. She felt like she had only been asleep for a minute when someone began to shake her awake. Surprise, surprise. It was Hermione.
"Sarah, wake up. It's time for dinner." Sarah groaned into her pillow before dragging herself out and fixing her hair to the best of her ability, which was not even close to presentable.
When she finally quit at her attempts, Sarah and Hermione continued on to dinner. There they found Ron with his plate overflowing with every type of food you can think of and Harry who looked extremely worried for Ron as he devoured a chicken leg. Sarah slid onto the bench, sitting across from Ron and next to Harry. "I can see you already got started without us, Ron." Hermione, Sarah, and Harry all shared a look as Ron grunted in response, immensely more focused on the food then the people in front of him. Harry chuckled while Hermione just shook her head at Ron, not so silently judging. The four Gryffindors fell into loud laughter as Ron choked on his food for a minute. The laughter was returned with a harsh glare from Ron that no one took seriously due to the sauce coating his hands and face as well as the piece of chicken stuck in between his two front teeth.
Harry leaned over to Sarah, whispering, "How many sickles do you want to bet on whether or not he will choke on his dinner at least another three times tonight?"
"Christ, Harry. Not all of us are made of money. Go over and ask your bestie Malfoy."
"Oh, the same one you spent the first half of the day organizing books in McGonagall's classroom with?" Sarah gave him the dirtiest look she can muster; suffice to say, Harry did not bring up her detention with Malfoy for the rest of the dinner.
Far too soon, dinner was ended, and all students began their walk to their houses' dorms. The Gryffindors made the walk up the changing steps. Well, not all Gryffindors walked. Percy Weasley strutted instead. Naming him the head boy was the worst thing anyone could possibly do to him and his ego. The group's attention was drawn to Ginny running down the steps to tell them the startling news. "The Fat Lady! She's gone." Everyone shared worried whispers as they looked around the halls, hoping to find her just singing someone's ear off in another painting. Unfortunately, they could not find her anywhere.
The painting she lived in had two large gashes going across the middle as if some rabid beast got into it. Sarah soon learned she was not too far off. Dumbledore and Filch came stomping up the steps in search of the Fat Lady. Dumbledore's hands brushed across the canvas paper to further examine the damage that was done.
Filch spotted the Fat Lady hysterically sobbing in a painting across the hall. Soon, all of the Gryffindors rushed over in a frenzy, trampling Percy Weasley in the process. Dumbledore's eyes scanned the Fat Lady in deep concern as he questioned, "Who did this to you?"
"Eyes like the devil and a soul dark as his name." Her voice shook as she glanced around the room in paranoia. "It's him, headmaster. The one they all talk about. He's here - somewhere in the castle. Sirius Black!" The Fat Lady could no longer continue on as she broke into terrified sobs and screams of anguish. She hid behind the boar in the painting as the students erupted into statements of immense fear of the cruel murderer Sirius Black.
Dumbledore ordered everyone to the Great Hall, but Sarah felt that she might not even reach it before passing out. She took one last look at the mauled painting, swallowing down her fear, and fought her way through the black spots skipping across her eyes. Instead, she looked to Harry; her anxiety sky-rocketed by just imagining what his thoughts were filled with at the moment. Her arm was suddenly grabbed onto by Hermione, dragging her along to their sleeping quarters for the night. No amount of shackled doors and locks could make Sarah feel safe, especially when she realized that Sirius Black was going to be trapped inside with them.

enjoy!!
