Sarah's favorite class was easily Divination. She didn't get why everyone thought it was fake like they were literally wizards? Divination is fake, but vampires and werewolves are real? Doesn't add up to her. It didn't hurt that she was also Trelawney's favorite student, but enjoying her class and being her favorite student kind of went hand and hand. Ava shared her love for Divination, claiming to have a third eye. It made a little bit of sense to her. Ava did seem to know a lot about everything. She could also just be really good at guessing which was more likely.
If there was once person who was on the complete opposite side of Sarah and Ava, it was Hermione Granger. She could not stand anything that she could not explain or put reason to. In turn she grew to loathe Professor Trelawney and anything related to divination.
Ava's eyes were flipping between the crystal ball between them and Sarah's face. Suddenly, Ava gasped loudly. "What? What did you see?"
Ava took a deep breath in before she shakily whispered, "I see a flower. Possibly a marigold symbolizing despair, grief, or jealousy. I'll check with Professor first." Sarah took a deep gulp as Ava called Trelawney over to the table. "Is this a marigold, Professor?"
"Oh dear. It is, but there also appears to be something behind it. It's a hyssop." Trelawney turned to the class, "Who knows what a hyssop symbolizes in a crystal ball?"
Hermione's hand shot up in the air. She may hate the class, but she loved to be right. "It symbolizes sacrifice or cleanliness."
"Very good, Hermione. Combined with another object that also foretells a dark future, they fuel each other. Of course, they can also contradict each other, but in my experience with crystal balls, the former is more common than the latter. I sincerely hope I'm wrong for your sake, Sarah." Sarah's eyes were wide as she thought through every possible terrible thing that could happen to; by the time she slightly calmed down, Professor Trelawney already moved on to Harry, Ron, and Hermione's table to terrify them with dark visions of their futures. Sarah watched as Hermione was criticized for the first time by any other teacher besides Snape, and he didn't really count because he hated everyone. Although, his loathing for Gryffindors was more prominent than his loathing for other houses. Hermione stormed off, shoving the crystal ball off of the table. Her footsteps coincided with the tumbling of the ball out of the classroom. Sarah may not always get along with Hermione, but she had to hand it to her. Hermione knew what she was doing at all times.
The classroom was already filling with whispers of Hermione's show of defiance. Trelawney was clueless to what she did to upset Hermione, but she continued on with the last two tables of the class. After that she dismissed all of the students, but Sarah had to stay behind to talk to her about a sponsorship for a school club: Divination or Die. The name for the club was Ava's idea, and currently, Sarah had nothing better. Hopefully, she found a name before she presented it to Headmaster Dumbledore. "Professor, I was wondering if I could talk to you about a possible club. I'm hoping that you would be open to sponsoring it."
"What is the club about?" Before Sarah could start to speak, she spotted Harry in the corner of her eye, the escaped crystal ball in his hands.
Professor Trelawney walked over to him, suddenly halting in her steps. Her walk became staggered and forceful as she gripped her hand on Harry's shoulder.
Harry and Sarah were equally terrified when Trelawney began to speak in a gravely voice. "He will return tonight." It sounded as if the air was being dragged out of her lungs, but she struggled on to spout the rest of her vision. "Tonight! He who betrayed his friends. Who's heart rota with murder shall break free. Innocent blood will be spilt, and master and servant shall be reunited once more!" At once, Professor Trelawney snapped out of her trance with a slight cough. "Oh. I'm so sorry, dear boy. Did you say something?"
Harry was still trembling from the prophecy he just heard; he and Sarah's eyes locked across the room as they simultaneously agreed to get out of the room immediately. Both of them slowly began to creep towards the door. Harry finally managed to speak, "No. Nothing." Once the pair made it out of the room safely, Sarah let out a shaky breath, but she didn't feel much better.
"What the hell was that?"
"It sounded like a prophecy."
"I know that, Harry. I meant what was she going on about in the prophecy."
"Oh. I don't know."
"Do you think she was talking about Sirius Black?" Harry immediately froze up, his mouth agape as he struggled for words.
"Let's just drop the subject. I don't want to think about that prophecy ever again."
"Agreed. If I had any doubts that divination was just a hoax, they are all gone now. No one could fake what just happened." Sarah shuddered, her mind reverting back to the image of her crystal ball. Death and despair. It seems like both Sarah and Harry had death to face. The scary part is that neither of them knew when they would be facing it. If Professor Trelawney's claim was to be believed, they would be facing death that very night. Most likely, death would take the form of an escaped murderer, death eater, Gryffindor, and betrayer that goes by the name of Sirius Black. Harry never seemed to be able to catch his breath for even a mere second before someone was out to maim or kill him. What Sarah would give to just be a small cat, bathing in the sunlight. If she was lucky, which Sarah was never, her animagus might be a cat like McGongall's. They could play with balls of yarn together, but Sarah highly doubted that McGonagall would be down to share her yarn. She sighed before rushing off to lunch with Harry; all of that talk of death made Sarah oddly hungry.enjoy!!
