Call Me If You Read This

We don't talk anymore...or even at all. So if you read this you've been looking for my words or you happened to stumble across them. It could be your consciousness searching for me, it could be fate (if you believe in that. You don't believe in many things these days).
Maybe you're in a relationship now and you girlfriend is in someway the same as me-she has an infinity for poetry. So she opens the book before you can see the cover and recognize my name or the artwork on the cover-the same design I once babbled to you about wanting. She skips the intro and dedication and turns the page to the first poem and starts reading the book to you. Laying on the couch together reading poetry was something I always wanted to do with you.
Do you hear me in the words but shake away the thought-impossible my major was not in English. In the phrases do you hear my voice? In the descriptions of a man does your heart race at the mirrored reflection? Have you even talked about me to her-if yes does she know my name? It's not one that's easily forgotten.
When she shuts the book and shuts her eyes tonight will you feel in the far for the words she just read-do they ring repeatedly in your head?
Do you read this poem? Does she skip it entirely because she knew the man was you?
Oh darling, now that you know what are you going to do?
Is this poem even about you- or you, or you or you? Maybe it's about all of you- maybe it's about none of you.
If you feel it calling within you maybe you should call me too.
-Xoxo
