Pierce's POV

"They're just children," a women's voice was heard from behind the closed doors, "they mean no harm." "You're right they mean no harm! Our son can't even kill a single hog without being hesitant, that's no way how to live if he wants to survive here in Daemos!" a male voice yelled.

"That's because you don't give him time to grow accustomed to such violence!"

"Violence? Accustomed?? Do you even hear yourself, Lydia? You sheltered those.. those weaklings from Daemos! They'll never learn if you don't let them fight!"

"I'm not SHELTERING them from our world, I'm simply just teaching them that they can be better!" the women's voice raised within every word, anger and defensive. "Better from what?? I sure hope you mean by them being better at fighting because now you're just sounding insane! When will they learn? When will you let me teach our son the way of surviving? When will you stop babying our daughter and teach her how to kill while she's still young??"

"BY NOT SHOVING THEM INFRONT OF A DANGEROUS SITUATION, DEREK!" the female voice boomed. "BY NOT SCARING OUR SON INTO ONLY SEEING THE DARKNESS OF THIS WORLD! BY NOT THROWING OUR MAGIC-LESS DAUGHTER WITH NO SURVIVAL SKILLS INTO THE PIT OF BLOOD AND GORE!"

Both voices continued to argue back and forth, carelessly loud that they probably didn't care if I heard them or not. But then again, I'm supposed to be asleep. Not awake listening to them.

That would be the problem, I couldn't sleep. Nightmares.

I gave a tired sigh and snatched a piece of bread, soundlessly making my way back up the stairs. I reached a small hallway and opened a specific door, my sister and I's shared bedroom. I cracked the door slightly and peeked my head inside, (Y/N), my sister, was on the floor playing silently with the pages of a large book.

No, quite literally. The book was half her small size.

She looked up and met eyes with me. I closed the door behind me and parted the bread in half, giving her half while I ate the other half. She grabbed it with her small hands and ate it quietly yet happily. While she ate, I picked her up and placed her on her bed. Pulling the thin blanket over her before I sat down on my own bed.

"Mah toes ar weord. Can ah eat em?"

I looked up at her as she stared at her toes questionably, eating and talking at the same time to herself. She wiggled her toes under the thin blanket, watching in amusement as they moved at a rapid speed. I stared at her weird antics for a bit longer before finally deciding to lay down in my bed, it wasn't made out of wood or any fancy material. Just made of a large hard rock for me lay on. A bag of hay as a pillow and a thin blanket to keep me warm enough to not shiver at night.

It wasn't much but it was comfortable. Atleast everyone thought so here in Daemos, I mean, my sister doesn't seem to mind the hard texture so why should I?
