Vanessa Pov-
''Oh my god! It's now two weeks and six days until you get married!'' Nareesha screeched after we'd finished in the dress shop. ''I know!'' I grinned, not showing anyone that really, I didn't want to be reminded. ''Vanessa Sykes, it sounds so cute!'' Kelsey gushed, causing us all to laugh.
''I was worried that it wouldn't fit.'' I sighed, remembering what I'd used to cover up the truth from Nathan last night. ''Are you kidding me? Vanessa Sykes sounds amazing!'' Kelsey stated, Nareesha and Emma both nodding in agreement.
''I can't believe that my best friend is growing up!'' Emma smiled, pulling me into a hug, and then holding me at arms length to watch me. ''It's only getting married, Em.'' I laughed, poking her shoulder. She dropped her arms from me and walked along side me. ''It's not just marriage Van, it's a big step!'' She whispered, so that only I could hear. ''I know.'' was all I could reply without feeling guilty afterwards.
''Right, see ya later girls, Tom's waiting for me!'' Kelsey waved, starting to walk away and shove her phone back into her pocket. ''Have a nice date!'' I winked, her blushing and turning around.
''I'm going to help Jay find a suit! He's left it right until the last minute!'' I sighed, looking at Emma to see her reaction, which was surprisingly calm!
"Are you still on for babysitting tonight?" Emma asked, smiling gently. "Course I am! What time should we expect her?" I replied, the 'we' standing for Nathan and I. "Around half six?" I nodded and Nareesha stepped forward.
"C'mon Em, we best get going. We have a hen night to plan!" I laughed and waved them both goodbye as they walked in the opposite direction to me. And as I got nearer and nearer to the coffee shop, the more nervous I got. Why did I ever agree to this?
My palms began to sweat and my breath caught in my throat as I saw him sat at a table playing on his phone. His curly hair flopped on his head, just like it usually did, with a beanie resting on top. He was sat outside of the shop, which I found odd as it was cold...
I approached the table he was at and he looked up, his perfect pools of blue meeting my eyes. ''Vanessa, it's good to see you.'' Jay said softly, his eyes looking me up and down, analysing any changes. ''Yeah, you too.'' I mumbled. He stood up from his seat and pulled me into his chest, enveloping me into a hug.
''So what drink do you want?'' He asked as we walked into the shop after that rather awkward hug. ''Just a coffee please.'' I told him. ''I'll go and get a table.'' I added, walking away to the table next to the radiator so I could warm up. Rubbing my hands together, I saw Jay already on his way over, which confused me.
I raised my eyebrows as I looked a him and he chuckled. ''She's gonna bring them over.'' He shrugged and I nodded. ''Have you been avoiding me?'' He blurted, lowering his head to look towards his hands on his lap. My heart pounded against my chest as I knew that I had, but did I lie? Just like I had been recently. ''Yes.'' I whispered, not being able to look at him because it would break my heart too much.
''I'm sorry Jay.'' I sighed and he shook his head. ''Your drinks!'' A girl smiled, placing the tray on the table in front of me. ''Thank you.'' I returned and she walked away. ''Why?'' Jay asked with sadness clear in his voice, and obviously he deserved and answer.
''I couldn't do it. I just couldn't face you knowing what you'd say. I didn't want to Jay, you know that.'' I told him. ''Then why did you agree to coming out today?'' He questioned, lifting his head up to look at me. ''I had to see you sometime.'' I shrugged. ''I'm sorry I made you feel like that.'' He mumbled.
''Don't make me feel worse Jay!'' I snapped. ''You know full well why I didn't want to see you. You manipulate people, you make them feel how you want them to. But I am not giving up on Nathan, I am going to marry him whether you like it or not!'' I ranted, but keeping my words quiet so that no-one could hear but us.
