Den barely slept that night, waking up every 15 minutes or so to check that Esti was still there, to cuddle her closer and kiss the top of her head. Once it was late enough to be considered morning, Den got up and began to make breakfast, despite what she said. She'd probably want to leave this morning.

Esti hadn't slept very comfortably either that night.

She didn't know why. She just felt it was wrong that she was cuddling Den; she was still hurt and jealous.

As she shifted in bed, alone, she sighed. She wasn't hungry and she didn't know what to do that day. Den was probably busy doing some kind of labour, or booking an "appointment". Sure, he had said he wasn't looking for one, but she was sure he wouldn't mind snatching the opportunity to if it came up.

Maybe she should just run off into the woods, far away. She would be away from everything.

Or maybe she should go to the kingdom, far from here-- the one Den had mentioned a while ago, with a statue of her. She could start over there, maybe.

She let out a muffled sound as she pushed her face into the pillow, still tired from the night before.

After a while, Den came upstairs to check on her and see if she was awake. He brought a plate of food up as well.

He knocked on the doorframe quietly before entering. "Esti?"

She turned her head out of the pillow to look at him for a few seconds before sighing, curling up in the blankets.

"Den, I told you to not make food."

"Pr... You have to eat." He had to swallow back a pet name. It was just instinct for him to call her those sorts of things at this point.

"I'm not hungry."

He sighed softly, sitting on the edge of the bed. "You need to eat. C'mon, just a little bit at least."

"Den, I told you." Her voice was still cold and rather distant. "You didn't listen."

"Yeah, well if I always listened to you, you'd still be left crying in the forest." Den gripped the plate tightly. He didn't want to be the bad guy. He wasn't the bad guy. But why was Esti making him feel like he was?

No, you know what? She was free to do whatever the hell she liked. Den really couldn't care less. He wasn't her babysitter anymore, so why bother? If she wanted to leave, then she should just leave, so Den could get on with his life. Being honest obviously wasn't getting him anywhere.

Den stood up again and set the food on the nightstand, brushing the front of his shirt dismissively. "Well then, eat if you want. I've got a lot of work today, so I trust you can show yourself out and then head to Fin's place if you wish."

He didn't wait for a response, turning and leaving the room and going downstairs, slipping on his boots and heading out the door for his first job of the day, helping some people fix the roof to a house near Norway's. Even if Den was brushing her off just like how he treated other girls he fucked, it still felt like he was leaving some part of himself behind. And he hadn't even fucked the damn girl.

Well, moon. Pretty moon. Pretty girl moon with fine hair and silvery eyes and smooth skin.

Once Denmark had left, Esti let out a long sigh, clinging to the pillow before starting to cry.

She didn't want to be on Earth. Denmark was so kind, he was so caring-- she should have known better than to think he would be loyal; of course he wasn't, not with his handsomeness.

And so she lied there, face pushed into a pillow as she dug her nails into the poor fabric, clinging to it like her life depended on it. Did he lie to her? When he told her that he didn't like kissing?

Probably. She was stupid, and childish, and useless-- there she went again, rambling on.

She really wasn't hungry, but she felt so selfish just letting the food on the nightstand grow cold. But she knew if she ate it, she'd have an upset stomach.

Jupiter, fucking hell. Why her? Why her?
