(Third Person Point of View)
4 years old"Bambi want to help mama? Supper will be done soon. Daddy should be home in an hour or so," her said as she finished frying chicken and making the mashed potatoes. Bambi had been playing under her mom's feet as she cooked supper. Her mama had let her help make Mac & Tomatoes, carefully helping to stir the tomatoes in the noodles. This was a typical night for them since her daddy retired. Her daddy was a truck driver years ago, but had something wrong with his heart and had to retire. Now he owns a farm where they worked with cattle and horses. Bambi was a big Daddy's Girl. He would often throw her on a back of a horse and they would ride the fence. Or just plain ride the fields, she would go anywhere she can with him. Him and Bambi's brother, Jake, works in the fields and Bambi helps her mom. Well, as little as she can at four years old. Bambi is the baby of the bunch. "Bambi, do you want to help with the table?" Her mother asked her again.
She scrambled off the floor and quickly washed her hands and helped her mom do what she was told. Smiling at her, her mom swept her into a hug and hissed her cheek when they were done. "Good girl, my little Doe."
"Honey, I'm home!" Her dad's voice came through the door.
"You're just in time for supper, go get cleaned up. Our little Doe helped cook and she even set the table this time," her mama kissed his cheek as Bambi ran and hugged his legs. Laughing he picked her up and spun her around and planted a loud kiss on her cheek. Bambi laughed as he pulled back.
"Did my Doe really to that?" He asked her.
"I did Daddy!" Bambi said excitedly. He laughed and tickled her sides and set her down. Looking around as Bambi ran off he asked. "Where is Jake?""He is staying over at his friend's house," her mama answered. Her daddy nodded and went to get cleaned up and they started to eat. Throughout the mean they jokes with Bambi and her mama and daddy talked about things Bambi didn't understand.
"You look red in the face. Are you sure you're okay? And you were breathing funny when you was holding Bambi," her mama said.
"Lo, I'm fine. It was just a little hotter out there and I had to fix a fence the cows went through. Nothing to worry about." He replied. That night they watched a family movie and her daddy carried Bambi to bed. He read her a story, "I love you my little Doe."
Thirty minutes after midnight Bambi will be woken by a death defying scream.
"He's not waking up!"
"I don't know what to do!"
"Please hurry he's not breathing!"
"Please, Lord help us"
"What am I going to do"
"Please, baby, wake up"
"I can't live without you"
"How did this happen"She will the EMT and first responders get there and go down the hall. She will see her Daddy laying unmoving on the bed. She will see her Daddy's best friend come and and her Mama as she throws herself into his arms. Then comes the news, "I'm sorry but he is dead". Daddy said dead means going to Heaven.
