Louis POV

"I'm moving in with Harry."

I had stayed with Harry after our dinner at Niall's. He had ended up having a little too much to drink and I'd driven him home. It worked out for me because when he was the slightest bit tipsy, Harry was a wonderful, kind man and an even more generous lover.

There were red marks around my wrists that showed the first tint of blue bruising. I touched them with a certain fondness through the fabric of my sleeve as my family turned to face me.

I'd come home early to break the news. They needed to hear it from me before they heard it from Niall or, God forbid, Zayn.

"Louis, are you sure you want to do that? It's only been, like, four months..."

I rolled my eyes at my iPhone. "Zayn, I'm twenty. I'm grown and I want to live with him."

There was silence from the other end of the line and I could hear him mumbling to someone but I couldn't make the words out. Eventually he came back. "Louis, you're my best friend. I don't think it's a smart thing to do. I mean, I saw him last night at Niall's when you showed him the picture of Liam an-"

"I'm doing this, Zayn," I interrupted him sharply. "I love him. I want to be with him every day."

"What?" Lottie whipped around first, throwing her braided hair around to her other shoulder. "Louis, you can't be serious."

I smiled and nodded. "I'm moving out."

My mother looked stunned at first. I had expected it because it was a common rule that mothers always had a harder time letting go. The expression then turned to sorrow. Beside her, my dad was grinning. "I didn't think you'd ever leave!" He left my mother's side on the couch and came to clap me on the shoulder.

The force knocked a grunt from me.

"But Louis... You don't have a job, you don't have all your money saved for a car!"

"Mom! They've only been together for four months! Who cares about a job or a car!" Lottie broke in and stared at me. "This is ridiculous, Louis!"

How much longer was Lottie prepared to keep poking her nose into my business? I was getting sick of it and when Harry asked me to move in with him the night before, I hadn't hesitated this time.

"Harry says he'll take care of me, Mom. I'll move with him, I'll find a job. He said he'll help me find a car, we talked about everything last night." I went around the couch and embraced my mom. "I'm ready for this, Mom. I want this. I trust Harry with my life and I love him."

I know I didn't need their permission because I was a grown man. But I wasn't like these other kids who disrespect their parents and treated them like dogs; my family meant the world to me and their approval mattered.

Mom was already in tears when she hugged me back. The twins were on the floor playing with their dolls, they didn't know what was going on. It was better that way. On the other side of the seat, Lottie's gaze still burned into me when I found it. She was a part of the reason I was so eager to leave.

"We raised him good, sweetheart," my Dad said from the kitchen. "He's got a good head on his shoulders."

It took half an hour for my mother to finally nod and tell me she was proud of me, and I couldn't have been happier when she did. I had Mom and Dad to back me and my sisters opinion didn't mean anything. I called Harry right after and told him. He was thrilled and said he was already making room in the closet for my things. Harry also said he'd hide the handcuffs so they wouldn't see them dangling from his headboard.
