There are just some days that are a little bit too emotional for you and today was that day. I was currently bawling my eyes out as I reach the end of the Notebook. That was a good book. After the hangout, Jackson and Kelly caught up while I just stayed up in my room reading. It was Sunday and I barely got a wink of sleep.

I wipe my teary eyes, close the book, and head downstairs.

I stop in my tracks as I catch Jackson sneaking his way out of the house.

"Jackson? Where are you going?" I ask and he freezes.

"Kate, why are you awake?" He asks shock.

"I was hung up on a book," I answer him. "What about you?"

"I was just going out." He says attempting to leave.

"Where?" I narrow my eyes at him. Something just doesn't add up. I probably sound like a whiny sister right now and I know shouldn't be concern about what Jackson was doing but the truth is that he's family and I care about family.

"It's none of your business Kate. Just leave me alone." He says and walks out of the house. I let him go slightly worried about him.

Where the heck did he run off to?

Please don't be burnt, I pray silently as I try to flip over the pancake. Shit. It's burnt.

I sigh. Some much for cooking. I debate in my head if this would be good enough to eat but then who the heck cares.

I place it on the plate next to me and sigh in contentment.

"I'm surprised you didn't burn the house down." Kelly teases as she takes a sit on a chair next to the kitchen table.

"That was one time." I glare at her. So what if that I'm bad at cooking and may or may not have almost burnt down the house in the process.

"I hope this is edible." She says as she looks at my food skeptically.

"Stop overreacting," I say as I sit across her. I take a bite of the pancake. Mhmm, this actually tast- wait hold that thought. I spit out what looks to be an eggshell.

Kelly laughs "Are you sure I'm overreacting?" She teases me and I roll my eyes and continue eating. It was just a little eggshell.

"Where's Jackson?" She asks all of a sudden curiously looking around for her brother.

"He headed out somewhere." I mummer to her digging into my food. It had been two hours since Jackson left and I've been really worried and mad at him. Worried because he's not answering any of my messages and call and angry with the way he shouted at me.

Kelly must have noticed my irritation because she didn't ask any more questions.

The one disadvantage of having a job at a grocery store was that it was open 24/7 which meant I had to work 24/7 even on a Sunday. I look a little bit grumpy as I step into the store. My shift was from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM so it was better to get it started it.

"You look crappy," Stacey says behind me. I roll my eyes at her playfully. In the few days of knowing Stacey, she seemed like a genuinely nice and sweet person and so far a great friend.

"That's because I am." I run my hand through my hair sighing.

"Come on," She nudges my shoulder. "Two hours will pass before you know it."

I gave her a look of disbelief as she continues to try and convince me. "Let's go." She says pushing me slightly forward.

"Fine," I say begrudgingly.
