Every Sunday is an eye-opening experience. I had just become a member of DHAY (Denver Hmong Alliance Youth). And let me tell you, it was amazing.
No, more than amazing!
Learning about God and His son, the loving Jesus Christ is always something I cherish. To live for God and represent Him in a Christ-like way.
I would choose my Lord over anything and anyone and I know that it does sound hard to believe, but I fell so deeply in Christ.
Problem; my family were not Christians. They laughed at the thought of me being one. I explained so clearly that it wasn’t the tittle, but it was about my Love for God!
They didn’t understand and my mother and father were so furious with me.
My dad is Shaman and my mom is Catholic. I never knew how that fit, but love does crazy things. That could have been why they divorced, because of the religious differences, but I will never know for sure.
My mom didn’t like the idea of me being out every Sunday because that was usually a time we spent together.
But she also refused to go to church with me. She has gotten used the idea now, she has accepted me again.
You see, I don’t like disappointing my parents but my Father in Heaven was calling out to me. And He has given my parents forgiveness in me. It is incredible.
Joshua and I became closer. We began out bucket list which was ice skating.
We went ice skating with the Youth and it was so much fun! Finally can move on the ice without holding onto the wall, which is a huge accomplishment for me. I am a very clumsy person.
As we were ice skating, Joshua would show up every now and then skating along beside me. He always smiled and it melted me heart.
“Haha, you doing okay there? You look like you’re going to fall? Why don’t you go faster?” Stop smiling at me and I will be fine…of course I didn’t say that! If I did, I would have been as red as a tomato.
“Aha, psh! Yeah I am fine, I am okay at ice skating! So it’s all good, and I can’t really skate that fast… what?! Don’t give me that face!” He laughed and skated away.
Aish, that smile of his was so distracting. I needed to stay away from that and the Youth were giving us second glances.
Haha, that was not very good! I didn’t want them to get different thoughts, I was in Love with God and need to pursue within Him more before I could love another.
He invited me to his cousin’s house. They were having a birthday party and I agreed to attend it with him. Nathan’s house was real far than what I was used to.
In the car ride, Joshua and I talked about many things. What we wanted to do in life, our mistakes, and what we looked forward to.
It was so nice getting to know him more, he never kept anything in.
He told me anything I asked him, Joshua was very open and honest. I had come to realize that, the thing is it made me like him even more.
Of course, I always kept the friendship in my mind. That’s what I was sticking too, but I also couldn’t deny these bubbly feelings that began building up.
I never realized that we were supposed to bring a gift so Joshua told me to sign the card! That sweetheart, letting me write on it. I only signed my name but claimed the gift as Joshua’s.
When we got to the door, Nathan opened and smiled so brightly at me.
“Hey Josh, who’s this?”
“You were the one who told me to bring her… haha! This is Catalina.”
“So you’re Catalina! Come in, nice to meet you!”
“Haha hi Nathan, Happy Birthday.” I smiled at him and we walked into the house. It was filled and we sat in the living room.
I got to meet Nathan’s girlfriend and her sister. Such kind girls.
It was a great night, just talking and eating. Playing with the dogs and laughing at jokes.
Joshua dropped me off at home and we talked about the night.
“You know, fishing is on the bucket list. We could go tomorrow, if you want? I mean, Jim has wanted to go fishing too. Haha, are you up for it?” That smile of his shone through the roof.
I smiled back, “Of course! Haha, but I warn you. I am not a very good fisher but maybe we can catch my first fish tomorrow!” I was excited. “Well, sounds good! Bye!” I waved goodbye and that night slept with a smile on my face, waiting for the next day to come.
-------------------------------------------------------
We went fishing; Joshua helped me catch my first fish ever. Jim and Joshua came to pick me up at 6am in the morning and I was tired!
The boys claimed it was the best time and I just went along with it.
It was about a 30 minute drive to the pond. We saw fishes swimming everywhere along the shore and we sat underneath a tree.
It was nice, real nice. Joshua let me use his fishing pole because apparently it was “better.” In his so-called words but it did catch me a fish! Haha, so I agree with him.
Fishing was a lot of fun but making s’mores was a real big fail. We tried starting a fire in the grill but it didn’t work out so we just ate marshmallows and chocolate!
“You know what? We should kidnap Chengy!”
“Definitely!” Chengy was our friend, always the one that liked to make things awkward. He loved video games but was very social when it came to certain topics. Chengy is a math genius; it comes in handy at times.
As we drove to Chengy’s house, he had absolutely no idea we were there to kidnap him. But we succeeded and went to Boondocks to catch up with Nathan and his girlfriend and her sister.
We played putt putt and I actually got a hole in one! But I believe I was the one who ended up losing; that was a detail I do not remember.
After that the boys went go-kart racing as I watched them. It was funny because Joshua came in last!
We all gathered around with some Young Adults and Youth from church and went bowling. It was fun, I was losing badly but it was still an amazing experience. In the end, it was just Joshua and I left.
Everyone left and no one grabbed the tickets. We went to the booth and Joshua asked me what I wanted.
“I’ve always wanted a domo. OH! That one right there, aish! It’s so cute.”
“Hahaha, calm down. The pink one?” He handed it to me with a smile and I smiled back. Joshua dropped me off at home and I fell asleep with Domo snuggled in my arms.

Hey there lovelies!
How’d you enjoy this chapter?!
I am still explaining of course Joshua, but I am also trying to include my walk with the Lord. It is all truly a blessing to have a life filled with Love.
We haven’t gotten to the good part yet, but don’t worry! In a few more chapters is when it gets really interesting! Haha, well maybe… but anyways, thank you guys for reading this and I wouldn’t mind any feedback! THANK YOU.
