Two seconds. Two Seconds was all I needed to decide that I couldn't hurt her. Two Seconds was all that was needed for my Beta to realize the same thing.
One second later her powerful jaws were about the rip out my throat the same way she ripped out the throats of her competitors. One second after that my Beta had tackled her to the ground, her teeth sinking into his arm instead of my neck. I rolled to my feet and rushed over, grabbing the chain that was still on her collar and pulled her back in time before she snapped onto him again.
She turned her attention on me went low, clamping down on my leg. I grunted I'm pain as I tried to pull her off. Ben took the chain from me and wrapped his arms around the back of her neck, trying to pull her off. He finally did and I had to control myself as he gripped her and clipped the chain onto a wall hook, knowing it was for the best and he wasn't trying to hurt her. Laughter came from behind us and she continued to lunge at us.
I wiped my head around, pure hate in my eyes as watched the handler laugh at us. I stormed over to him and slammed him into the closet wall with so much force it cracked the concrete. My mate let out a growl and she barked savagely in our direction.
"What did you do to her?" I asked through clenched teeth.
"I did nothing. I just own her. It's her trainer who made her like this."
I snarled and threw I'm across the room, watching as he came to a rolling stop in the mix of water and blood.
"Who was her trainer?"
"He never gave his name. But he is the best in the business."
I glanced over at my red-eyed mate, drool dripping from her muzzle as she growled in my direction, pooling in small puddles around her large paws.
"What did he do to her?" He laughed again.
"Made her the best fighting dog in the country. In short...he broke her" I couldn't control myself anymore. I had been going easy since the moment I found her, trying my best to keep my rage in check, but I was tired of that. I punched the man in the face, over and over again, the yells of my Beta and other pack member falling on deaf ears. It wasn't until I heard the whimpering of the wolf behind me, did I stop.
I pulled my bloody fist away from the man's face and looked behind me. The blood-red eyes of mate were now green and filled with fear and sadness, locked onto the limp for of her handler. She tried to take a step towards him but was pulled back by the chain that held her in place. I got up to my feet and moved towards her, happy that feral instincts had died down for now, but the moment my foot stepped in her direction she scurried backward against the wall, her feet folded underneath her, tail hanging low. Her eyes were fixed on the ground, ears down, one-pointed in the direction of the handler, making me shake with anger. I took another step and she flinched, hurting me that she would think I would hurt her.
"We should put her back in the cage." I turned to Ben, growling at the thought of putting her back in there, he raised his hands in surrender, "I don't like the idea of putting my Luna in there again anymore then you do, but I believe it is for the best. She is terrified and every time we get close, she lashes out." I took in his words and looked back at my mate, who has gone from shaking in fear, to starting to snarl in the direction of my Beta, who had he head down in submission now. I let out a sigh. He was right. As much as I hated it, it was for the best. For us and her.
I got closer to her and she pressed herself into the wall behind her, her lips pulling back in a threatening snarl. I didn't want to put the muzzle back on her so I just my hand and reaches for the chain leash. She stayed still, her snarling being the only way you could tell she was a living thing and not a statue. Her eyes glowed a bright red, but the moment my hand touched the chain they flashed back to normal, her snarling stopping instantly and her eyes dropped back to the floor.
Ears lowered and one pointed at me.
