Chapter 5 - Warning Signs

Lee, Carley and Andre arrive at the motor inn, they all duck down behind a wall and hear a little banging coming from the ice box to the side of the building. Lee says "Eyes sharp everyone" and Carley and Andre hold their guns up to it, it finally kicks open to reveal Glenn and he jumps out and joins them. Carley then says "Right looks like we can head back now" and Glenn interrupts saying "No we can't there is someone trapped up in the building, we have to save her" and then Lee said "Too right we do" Carley then says "Oh come on guys it's not safe" Lee replied with "Think if it was you" Carley rolls her eyes and says "Fine". Lee then says "But, we need to be quiet, no guns, it will just attract more monsters". Both Carley and Andre put their guns away, Lee lifts his head up to scout the area he sees that there is a monster in front of them, one beside the RV, one smacking against a door downstairs, one sitting down by a car and another two banging on the door the woman is screaming from. Lee then says "Everyone follow my lead" he leans round the side of the wall and picks up a pillow, Andre then says "I don't think that's going to help us man" and Lee says "Just follow me I have a plan" Lee moves down the side of the wall and then signals Carley to follow him, they move over to the car where the monster is sitting by, Lee then covers the face of the monster with the pillow and says "Shoot it now Carley, the pillow should absorb the noise",Carley replies with "Good thinking" and fires her gun killing the monster. Lee then smiles and says "Good job" he then looks in the car and finds a screwdriver and says to himself (This will do nicely). He then quietly sneaks up behind the monster in front of the wall and stabs it straight in the head, after it drops he moves to the side of the RV and quietly calls the monster to his direction and as it gets closer Lee stabs it in the head killing it instantly. Lee then says "There is only one left, any idea?" Glenn then says "We can push the car to trap it" Lee nods his head and they all push the car and it manages to roll forward and trap the big monster against the wall, Lee then stabs it in the head the whole screwdriver going in and then once it dies it falls onto it more meaning Lee is unable to get it back. Glenn then comes over and says "Where is your weapon dude?" and Lee replies with "Well he ate it" Glenn laughs and says "Well don't worry we have got that now" and points to the axe on the wall. Lee then picks the axe up and says "Andre you wait down here and cover us, Carley, Glenn follow me up but keep a distance" everyone nods their heads and Lee heads up the stairs.

As he gets to the top he looks down at the axe and smiles and walks towards the two monsters, he slices the first one's head right off and then kicks the other down to the floor and swings down onto it chopping it's head in two. Glenn and Carley then catch up to Lee, Glenn then bangs on the door saying "Hello, open up we can help you" the voice from the inside a panacing upset says "Go away please" Lee then says I'm coming in and swings his axe down chopping the board that is blocking the door, the women then screaming "No please" but Lee continues. He then goes to chop the handle but the woman says "Stop I'm coming out" the door swings open revealing a woman with blood all over her. Carley looks her up and down and says "She's bitten" Lee then says "Oh shit" the woman replies with "I told you to leave me alone but you wouldn't listen" Lee then says "Come with us, we can help you" the woman then says "No you don't understand I have been bitten it means I will become one of those things and I don't want that please I watched it happen to my boyfriend it's horrible" Glenn then says "Oh you have a boyfriend" and Carley nudges him to shut up. The woman looks down at Carley's hand and sees her gun and says "You have a gun, please can I use it, it will only take a second, I don't want to be one of them". Carley backs away saying "No I'm not giving you this" Lee agrees saying "You can't give up, we are not giving this to you" the womens eyes fill with rage and she jumps for the gun pushing Carley into the balcony fence. As Lee and Glenn try to get her off the entire section of the balcony gives way and comes crashing down, everyone on it following. The woman is the first to rise to her feet and picks the gun up, Andre then holds his gun up saying "Drop it NOW!" she ignores and as everyone else rises to their feet she holds the gun to her head and pulls the trigger. Everyone moves back in shock, more so is Andre as he backs right up into the window of a parked car and as he says "Oh god what happened up there, a monster grabs him from the window and bites down on his neck multiple times making him scream out in pain. Lee runs over there quickly and tries to pull Andre off but the monster has a strong grip, Lee then says "Carley shoot it" Carley picks her gun up and pulls the trigger blowing the monster's head right off. Andre then drops to the floor his neck bleeding out. Lee says "It'll be alright man" Andre replies in a weakened voice saying "No it won't, I'm about to die, ple.. Please look after Lexi as well, I failed her" and with that his head drops to the floor as he dies. Lee then shouts "SHIT!" Glenn then says "We need to destroy the brain and leave before any other monsters turn up" Lee argees and picks up his axe and swings it down into Andre's head saying "Sorry man". Carley then says "Come on we should get back" and the three of them head back to the drug store.

As the three of them head back in, Kenny greets them and says "Wait where is the police guy?" Lee's face drops and he says "He didn't make it" Kenny replies with "Oh shit". Then Lexi comes over and says "Where's andre?" Lee gets down to his knees and says "I'm sorry, Andre is gone", she begins to cry and Lee asks Carley to come over and stay with her, Carley says "Hey Lexi everything will be okay, come over here with me". Clementine then runs up to Lee and hugs him saying "I'm so happy you're okay" Lee smiles and hugs her back and says "I won't ever leave you sweet pea". He then let's go and goes over to Doug by the door and says to him "You alright man?" Doug then says "You want to go have a look outside?" Lee then says "I don't think I'm feeling suicidal yet" and Doug laughs and says "No the lock is on the gate we will be fine if we are quiet".

Lee and Doug both head outside the doors and crouch down, Lee then looks over to the other side of the road and sees someone crushed by an electric post and turned into one of the monsters, he takes a closer look to see a tag on his shirt and Lee suddenly realises it's his brother. His face drops and eyes fill with pain and guilt. Doug looks up at Lee and says "You alright?" Lee says "Yeah, I think that guy over there worked here" Doug says "He could do but we need t find proof before we decide that" Lee then pulls out the photo he ripped and shows it to Doug saying "See he's works here he must have the keys" Doug replies with "Good one Lee, we just need to somehow get over there". Lee then sees a tv shop over the road and pulls out the remote, however nothing happens when he uses it, he shows it to Doug and says "You think you can do anything with this?" Doug looks at it and grabs it and says "Yes this is a universal remote and memorised all the codes for changing the connection". After a few seconds Doug points the remote at the tv and it turns them and Lee says "Good work Doug" Doug replies with "It's got a few of monsters attention but not enough. Lee then sees a brick on the floor outside the gate and stands up and smashes his axe down on the lock breaking it apart, he then quietly opens the gate and picks the brick up and with one huge throw his smashes the glass open to the tv shop making the noise louder and bringing all the monsters over to it giving Lee a clear path to his brother. Lee then says "Watch my back" and he quietly runs over. Once he gets there he kneels in front of his brother and says "I'm sorry, I should have been here with you, Mom and Dad but I wasn't, I'm going to guess you died protecting them" Doug then shouts over "Found anything?" Lee says back "Give me a second" and then Lee says to his brother "I've got to end you now, I'm sorry" Lee raises the axe in the air his eyes filling with tears and he swings down into his brother's head and kills what used to be his brother. Lee then moves over and picks the keys out of his pocket and turns to Doug and shakes them. Then Doug eyes go wide and shouts "RUN NOW" as all the monsters have begun to turn and come towards them Lee quickly runs back and they jolt it inside closing the door.

Lee then takes a huge breath and walks over to Lilly and says I've got the keys. She smiles and gets to her feet they both walk into the office and as Lee unlocks the drug room and they walk in an alarm goes off one that rings all round the store and outside they both say "SHIT" and quickly grab everything they need. They then run back in and as the monsters begin trying to break in a huge herd of them outside. Kenny says "Glenn, Gavin go load the cars, Katjaa grab Duck and Lexi, Lilly get your dad out of here and Carley, Doug and Lee block that door while I bring the truck round" everyone runs to do what they have to do, Lee then says to Clem to stay close to him. Kenny shouts for Lee to pass him the axe and Lee chucks it to him. Suddenly the monster begins to try to push the door open and Carley and Doug sprint over to it to hold it back and Lee joins them. However while they are holding it one of the windows smash open and the wood breaks. Carley says I'll handle this and lets go of the door and grabs her gun and begins shooting at them as they come in, suddenly the monsters start pushing on the other window and Lee looks at Doug and says "Go I've got this door" Doug let's go and the monster push it open but Lee manages to slam it shut once more, he shouts over to Clementine to find something to stick in the door. Clem runs around saying "Errr.. I.. Oh wait I know" and runs away. She suddenly runs back holding out Lee's dad's cane, Lee looks at it and then shoves it through the door handles but as he does chaos erupts. A monster starts crawling towards Carley and another walking her way and she shouts for Lee to help her but across the room on the other side is Doug and the monsters begin smashing through the window and Dough screams for Lee to help him too. Lee stands in the center room frozen thinking what to do and then runs to...
