I was curled up in my blanket comfortably on a cozy Saturday morning. The peace was broken when my phone suddenly rang. My phone don't often ring considering the fact that I only have very few friends. I quickly checked to see who was calling. It was Ryan. Immediately, my stomach was filled with butterflies. I picked up feeling excited.
"Emma?"
"Uh hey Ryan. Why'd you call?"
"There's something, I don't know if I should tell you."
"Tell me what?"
"So.... the thing is Jace was never nice to you. It was all an act."
"What?"
"It's ok, I'll show you something."
"But-"
The call ended. I lied in my bed processing it when my a notification popped up from my phone. It was a picture Ryan sent. The picture was a screenshot from a conversation between some guy and Jace.
Karl: hey so you like that girl Emma?
Jace: bro u serious? She's so annoying 🙄
Karl: AHAHHAHA I know right
Jace: I'm only friends with her because she helps me with my homework.
My world froze. Was it all a lie? He never wanted to be friends with me. Can this be fake, just some tricks to make me lose my only friend? Ryan even took picture of his phone number. I quickly check his contact to see if the phone numbers match. It really was him. He said all of those things about me. I was on the verge of tears, feeling like my world was about to crumble down any moment. Why was everything happening to me?
Not wanting to believe this, I texted Jace quickly.
Me: was it all a lie?Jace: what is??
Me: being friends with me...
Jace: ....
Me: tell me it's not true!
Jace: I'm sorry.....
Me: no!! Tell me it's a lie!
Jace: I'm really sorry
Typing....
I slowly put my phone down on my bed. I didn't want to believe any of these, but how could I not. The only 'real friend', or at least I thought, wasn't even real. My life was just a cruel joke on me. First it was Mia, now Jace. Tears started falling uncontrollably, however, I knew that life had to go on. I quickly wiped them off and decided to go down to grab breakfast to fill my starving self.
I walked down to an empty house. Every bit of sound echoing through the house. None of them were at home. Dad and Rose went out since yesterday. Alex, Andrew, Blake and Noah are probably at football or basketball practice. Sean was out don't know where. Jay was probably with his friends. After getting some food, I went back to my room. I passed Jay's room before reaching mine. His door was opened partially, curiosity crept into me. I know I shouldn't but before I know, I was already in his room.
His room was huge. A king sized bed with some weird painting that definitely cost a lot, on top of the wall; a huge television as well as a gaming setup and a gaming computer. On his old-fashioned study table I saw a picture. I picked it up to get a closer look. It was him and Chloe, I assume. He was smiling like he had no worries from the world. Since the first day I met him, I've never seen him smile so carefree like in that picture. I stared at the picture for a little while. He looked so cute in it.
"What the fuck are you doing in my room!?" A menacing voice behind me suddenly echoed.
I turned around in shock to see Jay standing there with the angriest face ever.
