2 : "take it off"

After detention the two of you made your way back to the dorms, both of your feet were heaving and moving slow, not wanting to part anytime soon. You were itching to say something but the words didn't seem to form a sentence in your mind so you stayed quiet.

"My face hurts so much" Draco mumbled, kicking his feet at the dust on the floor as the two of you dragged your way back.

"It looks painful" you replied, turning your head up to look at him with a sympathetic smile "maybe next time don't be such a dick and you won't get your nose broke"

Draco rolled his eyes and huffed. He didn't seem too angry anymore, just stubborn that he wasn't in the wrong, which of course he was. Perhaps you were being a little stubborn too.

"Yeah it hurts so much, I may not make it through the night" he sighed dramatically, sticking out his bottom lip like a child.

You laughed and rolled your eyes, this side of Draco never failed to make you laugh, you were still surprised he hadn't made more of a scene in class when he got hit, the wuss.

"I'll make sure to make a scene of crying at your grave then so people know that there was at least one person who liked you" you kicked the dust, chuckling and then looked over to see his aggressive scowl

"People like me" he hissed, folding his arms across his chest.

"People fear you, draco, there's a big difference"

He grumbled "not where I'm from"

Dracos voice was so quiet you nearly didn't hear him and you were sure that was his intention, Draco doesn't often talk about home, especially not like this. You didn't respond, thinking it better to pretend you didn't hear rather than open that can of worms, Draco definitely wouldn't appreciate that. Your heart broke a little though, and you reached out your fingertips, grazing them against his.

He tucked his hands into a fist and then slipped them in his pocket, moving them away from your grasp.

You were at the door to the dorms.

"Try and get some rest tonight" you said, looking up at Draco when you got to the common room "try not to touch your nose, either" you didn't want to laugh at him but a small snigger slipped out your lips as you flicked your eyes to his nose- perhaps he didn't hear.

You walked in together and everyone else seemed to be in bed, you had been in detention for a very long time, longer than you had realised, and you guessed that people would be wondering where you both were, especially with the scene in class. Draco smiled a little at your care for him, but he mostly looked cold, perhaps even a little lonely.

He almost always looked hurt.

"Well, good night then" you shot him a sympathetic half smile and started to walk towards the girls dorms.

"Wait..." Draco exclaimed, reaching his hand out towards you.

You spun around and looked at him with curiosity, wondering what he wanted.

He chewed on his lip and stood there staring to the side of him as if he couldn't make eye contact with you. There was a moment of silence before he spoke, ever so quiet.

"Can we stay here? For a while" his voice was high pitched and soft and melted your heart.

You knew that you wouldn't be able to sneak into his room if the boys were in there and the girls were in your dorm as well, so if you wanted to spend any more time together it would have to be in the common area. Luckily for you two, you were alone in here and probably would be all night.
