Authors note: sorry :D
It was like your body had left your stomach behind you on a rollercoaster, jolting your insides up and down like you were falling through the air one minute and the next a heavy pressure weighing down on your head putting a little too much strain on your neck. It was familiar, painless, but strange nonetheless- equally as strange as last time. The cold breeze licked the back of your neck, just like it had done the first time, but it didn't melt away into a comforting kiss of warmth this time.
Instead, the wind whipped your face again, tossing your hair into your cheeks with a spiky slap as you felt your socks soak up a piercingly cold fluid. In hindsight, you definitely should have put on shoes, but you hadn't given it much thought, letting the anticipation make poor decisions for you.
It was only a second, a single drag of your eyelids over your eyes, peeling them open to be hit with harsh and cold daylight, stripped of their moisture by the wind.
It was only a second, but it felt like a million, like the pain of a million seconds coursing through your body as if you had been impaled with a dagger. The pain was physical, entirely physical, and you instantly fell to your knees, soaking the front of your trousers with discoloured rain water, the same water that had soaked through your now painfully wet socks, sending cold spikes through your rapidly numbing toes.
He was lying on the floor, eyes open but un-responding, like a vacant shop front with an open door, white t-shirt stained horrifically with an almost comedic amount of blood, like the kind of blood found in muggle slasher movies. You assumed it was his blood, arms ripped and bruised in a way you never thought you'd have to see.
You wanted to scream, to alert them to your presence, but your lungs didn't have the life in them to make a scene.
It had maybe been three seconds, you knew, but it didn't feel so short.
"Dad" you whispered, voice being carried away pathetically by the rain quenched wind.
You blinked and suddenly you could see everything.
Her hands were on his cheeks, shouting desperately like a woman who had lost her hope, and the sounds of her cries ripped through your chest like a cruciatus curse. Draco stood above your mother, shaking, sobbing, covered in blood that wasn't his, and there was a flash of black smoke engulfing somebody behind him.
You knew who the long blonde hair belonged to in a millisecond, but the dark smoke had smothered him and with another heartbeat there was nothing at all, just a mildly clouded spot where he had once stood. Where Lucius Malfoy had once stood.
"Dad" you cried, your lungs surging with a panicked adrenaline as you tried to drag yourself to your feet.
Your body didn't have the know how to direct the energy evenly, making you shakily fall immediately back down into the bloody puddle you had been crouching in, so you tried again, dragging your frail form to the others.
You were only a step away but they hadn't noticed until then, and two sets of eyes landed on you heavily.
"Y/n" your mom sobbed, voice harrowingly cracking as she held onto your dads body, face puffy and swollen, covered in dark purple bruising.
You couldn't find any words and neither could Draco apparently, but as you took hold of your dads arm you saw the quiver of his chest.
He blinked, like it was hurting him a lot.
"My - clever - girl"
You had never heard anything as heart wrenching, voice so strangled you could hardly understand him, and a trickle of blood seeped out the corner past his lips, trailing down his cheek and splattering on the floor.
