When you woke up the next morning Draco had already left and there was an indent in the covers where his body had been holding you the night before. Your head hurt, not nearly as much as his though, you thought, and you heaved yourself up in bed.

You wondered what time he had left, perhaps he hadn't even stayed the night and just waited until you were asleep. For a moment you smiled, thinking even if that was the case it was a really sweet thing of him to do, and then your heart dropped as you remembered your final words to him last night.

He didn't say it back.

Draco had told you he loved you before, in the bathrooms after getting punched in the face by Cedric diggory, but he was in an incredibly vulnerable place then, and you felt it was a little different.

However Draco had been punched by someone last night, and today you were going to find out who, and more importantly why. What did he do this time.

Today was a Saturday which meant no classes but it did mean quidditch practice; pansy was already getting ready, zipping up her largest coat, prepared to cheer Draco on as seeker in practice. She was pathetic really.

You needed to talk to him but there was no way you would be able to this morning, he was most likely already there. You chuckled to yourself at the idea of Draco practicing his game with a splitting hangover.

You got changed into your warmest clothes and made your way down to the pitch with pansy, making it her business to tell you that you were late and that they would already be in the air by now.

"It's only practice" you reminded her.

She was right, as you climbed the stands to sit in the box to watch you could hear them shouting at each other, flying through the crisp icy winter hair.

Draco looked great in his quidditch uniform, the green complimented him incredibly- as pansy reminded you while you were watching.

Usually, when practicing they didn't use the real snitch just in case they couldn't find it again, and today was no different, so Draco was basically just flying around messing about with the rest of the guys, practicing different moves and turns.

Pansy was shouting and encouraging them and you sat, watching him fly around, a huge grin on his face, totally in his element. He didn't look hungover at all, the only evidence of the night before was his eye, significantly darker and more bruised than you remember it- idiot.

You watched as he flew up closer to where you were sitting, watching down at his teammates.

"Well done Draco!" Pansy congratulated him on doing absolutely nothing, causing him to flick his eyes over to the two of you.

He was smiling cockily until he met your eye-line, losing his confidence immediately and wobbling on the broom a little.

You smiled at him and he gave you a strange look in response before flying back down to his teammates.

"Did you have another fight?" Pansy asked, turning to you with her eyebrows raised as if you'd done something wrong.

You didn't say anything, standing up to leave, not feeling in the mood to sit in the cold watching him practice anymore.

There really was no way of knowing what Draco was thinking, but by the look of apologetic regret painted on his face when he looked at you, you guessed it had something to do with your confession of love last night.
