For the next two days, you lulled around in the common room hoping someone might walk in and converse with you. You had gotten through most of your recreational books and were struggling to find solo entertainment.
Draco had been no where to be seen for the last two days, since he had slammed the door on you he hadn't left his room, not even to eat unless he silently crept out at ungodly hours in the night. As far as you were concerned he might as well have flown out his bedroom window and gone home, not even producing a peep in 48 hours.
Tomorrow was Christmas Eve which meant that today was Christmas Eve Eve and the morning tickled your nose with icy air, waking you from an admittedly troublesome slumber. You hadn't slept well since you received a reply from your parents, sugar coating the unspoken risk in the air as of late. There had been several "accidents" injuring and killing muggle born and half blood witches and wizards- your parents thought it best to get away and visit some of your fathers family off the radar to avoid falling into any of these "accidents" themselves.
You assumed that this is what your friends were trying to tell you about, and there was a sting in your chest when you thought of Draco. You wondered if he was happy about this? It was most likely revolving around his family, although there is a chance he too is less clued in than he should be, being stuck in school.
You nearly shot out of your skin when you heard a knock on the door, shooting up and landing your bare feet on the cold floorboards.
"Who is it?" You asked, not sure who would surprise you more; Draco was missing in action right now so an appearance from him would be out of the ordinary, but you doubted the young boys would have the courage to knock on your door and come directly to you- what would they even want if they did?
"Take a wild guess" draco spoke from behind the door, voice low and raspy.
You sighed and pulled some clothes on, just some comfy trousers and your dads jumper, not wanting to be caught in your underwear by him, before swinging open the door.
He was tall and smiling down at you almost kindly, and if you didn't know better you would say it was warm and welcoming.
"What do you want?" You sighed and his kind smile turned into a smirk.
"I'm bored, entertain me"
You laughed in disbelief at his cheek "are you really that much of a child?"
He didn't respond, just gave you a small cocky grin as he stepped closer. He smelt like he always did, warm and inviting, and you leaned towards him slightly despite your best efforts not to. He lifted his hand and pushed some of your hair back behind your shoulder.
"Actually, I need to talk to you" you sighed out, knowing that you needed to snap yourself out of this trance to have a serious conversation with him about your parents. Draco knew something and you needed to know what it was.
He didn't seem to even notice what you had said and leaned towards you, his lips close to your cheek letting his breath tingle the tiny hairs "can I come in?"
You felt the butterflies behind your navel but scrunched your eyes shut, pushing any ideas you had to the back of your mind and pressing your hands to his chest to push him away.
"I said I need to talk to you, come on" you walked past him into the common rooms and sat tenderly onto the sofa, watching as he groaned by the door frame, eventually slugging himself over to sit with you.
He seemed to be in a much better mood, but you assumed he was just horny; sometimes he would get like this where no matter what you said he would find a way to dance his fingers on your skin. The two of you hadn't so much as kissed since that night after Cedric, though, and he had been teasing you.
