Luca
I put my phone back into my pocket, my ears burning.
She must think I'm pathetic.
It was weird enough that I had messaged her out of the blue but I'm pretty sure I made it weirder by sending the awkward apology message.
I sighed slightly and ran my hand through my hair, going back to 'reading' my textbook.
I zoned out as the teacher went on with her lesson.
I wonder why she stayed home.

"Hey".
"What are you doing here?" I asked, as I walked up to Alec who was standing outside the school.
He awkwardly smiled. "Claire wanted to hang out after her classes ended" Alec replied.
Who's Claire again?
"Oh" is all I said.
"Want me to drop you off home on the way?" he asked.
"Nah, I'm going over to a friend's house" I replied.
This is such an awkward conversation.
Alec is a good guy, he's my dad's older brother's son, meaning my first cousin. However, we've never been close. We didn't have the same interests at all.
"Ah okay" he said, rubbing the back of his neck.
"YO Luca, reading to go?" Darren said, as he and Felix walked up to me.
"Right see you later Alec" I said, walking away.
"Who's that?" Felix asked. "My cousin" I replied.
"Oh he the one you're living with?" Darren asked.
I nodded, following them to Darren's car.
"Where's Aaron?" Felix asked.
Is anyone ever going to tell me who this man is?
"Bruh he skipped today again" Darren replied, as we piled into his car.
"I'll be shocked if he somehow passes senior year" Felix laughed.
I stayed quiet and stared out the window.
I wonder what she's doing right now.
~~
"We're out of snacks" Felix said, as he opened the cupboard.
"You sure?" Darren said, looking over at him.
"Gotcha" I said, killing off his character in the video game.
Darren whipped back around and looked at the screen.
"Not cool man" he said, punching m slightly on the arm.
"Yeah I think we ate everything you have damn" Felix replied, closing the cupboards he opened.
The three of us were gathered in Darren's basement, playing video games and eating shitty snacks. I don't even know how long we've been here for.
"I guess that's my cue to head on home then" I said, getting up from the sofa, and pulling out my phone.
"For real? What time is it?" Darren asked.
"Almost 7, I got a report due tomorrow that I haven't started so I'm gonna head out" I said, grabbing my bag off the floor.
"Need a ride home?" Felix asked.
