6.Slip up

I woke up the next day to a text from Evee.

Evee: get dressed we're going to brunch 😋

Mayah: you do know you're 17 not 70? Right?

Evee: lol shut up and get ready 🙃

I checked my messages. Wow Alexus still hasn't texted me back.

I got up and went to the bathroom. I washed my face half awake. I have to look cute to go out with her. Even her chill clothes makes her look like an Instagram baddie while I look like a 2 dollar hoe.

Its a good thing the buns from last night stayed together because I have no idea what to do with my natural hair. I showered and got dress and a horn beeped outside as I finished up my makeup.

"Are you fucking serious?" I mumbled as I walked closer.

Sophie was smiling at me in the drivers seat.

"Why?" I asked as I got in the backseat

"She said she'd drive" Evee said with a fake smile.

"Blink twice if you're being held captive."

"Very funny" Sophie said pulling out of my drive way.

Evee looked back and blinked twice.

Sophie gasped. "Hey! I haven't even been mean yet."

"Do you wait for your attacker to attack before you try to run?"

She sighed "i had a long talk with myself, it's in my best interest to treat my teammates well.

"Wow, growth" Evee said sarcastically.

I guess she could see through it just as well as I could.

"I'm serous" Sophie said. She made eye contact with me through the rear view mirror. "You did great last night."

"Pretty good for a black girl huh?" Evee teased.

Sophie sighed, "I'm going to stop with the black jokes."

"Okay, wait a minute... are YOU being held captive?"

"Can't I realize I was wrong and try to be a better person?"

I rolled my eyes. I can see right through this. She just doesn't want me to tell Evee what happened between us.

"Woww, this is the least bitchy I've seen you be since I moved in" Evee laughed.

We were actually having a good time. Talking and laughing together.

"See that's just proof that we needed you here." Evee said nudging me.

I was having a good time until my phone dinged.

Alexus: that's awesome baby. I bet you looked so fine in your cheerfit😋🥰

I huffed it's 1:30 I know she been saw my messages.

"Whats wrong ?" Evee said cutting Sophie off mid sentence.

I didn't even know she was paying attention.

I hesitated for a second "I think my girlfriends cheating"

"Nooo" Evee said widening her eyes.

"you're probably right" Sophie said  eating the last of her jelly toast. 

We both turned and looked at her.
