Chapter One:
The Beginning of a New LifeJack
I have to escape.
I paced the small room and looked up at the window. The usual bright blue sky was slowly becoming dark. I walked over to window and pushed my face between the bars. The cool breeze swept across my face.
I have to escape. A snowflake emerged from my fingertips, and I watched as it blew into the finishing day. That's when it hit me: tonight was the night I was going to escape, and I knew exactly how to do it.
I closed my eyes and thought of that day on the boat. My heart ached, and the memory was horrible, but it was the only way I could escape. Then, I remebered all the anger I felt afterwards, wishing I could have stayed home like my mother had told me to. Suddenly, ice shot out of my fingers. I opened my eyes, and the bars on the window were completely blown off. I smiled and pushed myself outside the window, flying into the night sky.
Anna
Nothing was going to ruin this night. Nothing.
I washed my face in the sink and looked in the mirror. Looking perfect, as always, Anna. I giggled and dried my face with a towel. I ran into my room and put on the green and black dress I was wearing for tonight. I put on my mother's necklace and excitedly ran into the living room, prancing around in my fancy dress.
"Anna, what are you doing?" My Aunt Ingrid laughed at me.
I smiled and gave her a hug. "I've got a date!"
"A date?" Aunt Ingrid stopped unpacking the groceries to look at me.
"Yes! It'll be so romantic and perfect!" I danced around the living room, laughing and smiling.
"With who?" She asked, continuing to pack the groceries.
"Hans, silly!" I smiled and stopped dancing.
"Hans?" Aunt Ingrid gave me a look. "You're going on a date with him? I thought you liked Eugene!"
"Really Aunt Ingrid? I liked Flynn last week. But he asked Rapunzel out, so he's totally off limits now."
The doorbell rung and I ran to give Aunt Ingrid a kiss on the cheek. "Bye!" I ran towards the door, butterflies in my stomach.
"Bye! Call me if you need anything!" Aunt Ingrid yelled.
"Okay!" I yelled back and close the door.
Hans was outside, holding a bouquet of flowers. "Hi." He said casually.
"Hey," I blushed, pulling a loose strand of hair behind my ear. Oh my god he looks so hot.
"Um," he says, looking down at the flowers, "These are for you."
I blushed even more and took the flowers from his hand. "Thank you."
He put his hands in his pockets and looked up. "So where do you want to go?"
I shrugged. "I don't know." I don't know any romantic places, I've never been on a date before!
"There's a restaurant close by, if you want to go?"
"Sure!" I walked with him to his car and held his hand. A restaurant? I hate going to restaurants! What was I thinking?
Hans drove over to one of the worst restaurants I've ever known in my whole life: Greasy Joe's. The food there is exactly what it sounds like- greasy. When I was little I went there with my Aunt Ingrid to try it out and it turns out I'm allergic to most of the food there. But if Hans liked it, I'm supposed to like it, right?
I closed the car door and looked up nervously at the neon lights that spelled out the name of the restaurant. "Are you okay?" Hans asked. "You seem a bit nervous."
"Me? Oh, I'm fine." I said, waving a hand. I'm not fine take me somewhere else!
We walked into the restaurant and the familiar smell climbed into my nose. I tried breathing through my mouth and thought if something else... Like Hans. Who even has the power to grow perfect sideburns like that? How is that-
"What would you like to order?" A woman at the cash register asked.
I looked at the menu. What wasn't I allergic to? Everything was mostly hamburgers, but there were chicken tenders too. I eat chicken tenders all the time, maybe I'm not allergic to that.
"The chicken tenders please." The woman took Hans' order and gave us our table number. We sat by the back, where it wasn't so loud.
"Have you been here before?" Hans asked as soon as we sat down.
"Um, yeah actually. It was a long time ago, though. It was with my Aunt Ingrid." I said, leaving out details.
"Cool. I come here all the time."
After a while, a waitress brought our food to the table. Woah, how can Hans eat that gross hamburger?
Hans took a huge bite out of his hamburger. I looked down at my chicken tenders. How bad can it be?
I eat a whole chicken tender before I actually began to feel nauseous. My stomach began to hurt so I decided not to eat anymore.
"So, Anna, have you seen that new movie opening at the mall?" Hans asked.
I tried not to think about my stomach and focused on Hans. "Um, no. Why?"
As much as I tried to forget about my stomach, it hurt so much. I made the hugest mistake in eating there.
Hans smiled. "Well, I though maybe we could-"
Suddenly, my stomach churned, and I hunched over to the right- No! Hans is on the right!
I couldn't stop myself; I threw up all over Hans. I looked up, cleaning my lips with my hand.
"Ugh... Oops."
