School is over with and Jacob is late. He's never late. What if something happened to him? I already feel empty inside without him near me.

"Are you dating that guy that brings you to and from school yet?" My friend Chelsea asks as she snacks on an apple.

"They are siblings, duh." Joy says.

There are four of us: Joy, Chelsea, Hailey, and then me. All three girls are blonde and tan like barbie dolls. I happen to be the total opposite. I think they only let me into their group because I have a different name and they think Jacob is hot. So if they can be closer to me, they can get closer to Jacob. Yeah, over my parent's dead bodies.

"He is not my sibling. He's been best friends with...me since I was born." Close call on not saying he was best friends with my mom.

"All the more reason to date them. If you two aren't dating by graduation, I call dibs." Hailey says.

Hailey's words frustrate me. No one touches Jacob. My Jacob. I take a deep breath as I close my eyes. I can't let her words get to me.

"Hey, girls."

"Hi, Dustin." All four of us say at once.

"I am formally inviting you to the beach party tomorrow night."

"I am so honored." Chelsea fake smiles.

"I don't think I'll be there." I say

"Um, hello? You can bring your hot guy friend. You haven't done anything fun since you arrived at this school. We will all be there."

I hear someone slamming the car horn. We all turn to see my mother's brand new Hydai come to a stop. Oh, no. Something definitely happened to Jacob. I start to feel tears fill my water line.

"I have to go!" I rush to her.

"See you tomorrow night!" Dustin shouts.

I fling the car door open. "What happened? Is he hurt?"

"Jacob's fine. He's at the house waiting for you. I thought maybe we could have a little chat."

"Whatever you think I did, I didn't do. Emmett probably did it and is blaming me."

My mom smiles as I settle in the seat. She's so pretty. I'm glad she passed her hair and eyes to me. I'm lucky to look just like her.

"Jacob says you were distant with him today. Did you two get in a fight?"

"Far from it." I look out the window. How am I supposed to blurt out that I think I have feelings for Jacob.

"Ness, please talk to me. I promise whatever happens stays between us."

"And me!" Rosalie pops up from the backseat and scares the crap out of me.

"What are you doing here?" I ask.

"You are having boy issues and you're my boy-talk buddy. So start rambling."

Honey, if you think I'm going to be angry at you in any way, I promise you, I won't be."

"I don't know how to say it. I woke up fine then as soon as I saw Jacob, it's like everything was in slow motion and I started feeling different."

"I always knew the day would come when you fell in love with the Wolf Boy. I thought I would get more years with him being somewhat away. Now he's going to never leave."

"I'm so glad I don't smell what you smell on him."

"Lucky you." Rosalie sits back in the seat.

"Renesmee, you need to express to Jacob what you are feeling. Even if it's just a small little crush. I don't want you to just leave him in the dust. It would break his heart if he thought he was losing his best friend."

"It's hard. I've only been on this earth for 7 years. I technically am 7 but I'm falling for a guy who is supposed to be your age but everyone is stuck in a teenage body. Plus, he's kissed you and the thought of that to me is weird."

"Don't look at the past. That was when every vampire on the living earth was trying to kill me and my emotions were so messed up I couldn't think straight."

"I, for one, have never really been a fan of dog boy. I could give or take. Whatever makes you happy." Rosalie gives me a hopeful smile.

"I'm not forcing you to say anything you don't want to say. Just don't forget who your best friend is."

We get home and I somewhat feel better. I decided to stay at Carlisle and Esmee's house for the remainder of the evening. I think they need to be graced with my presence.

"How was school? Esme asks, sliding a bottle of cold blood to me on the table. She keeps it in the fridge just for me, however, I'm beginning to suspect Emmett is stealing a bottle every now and then. I hate myself for introducing him to blood from the fridge.

"I'm pretty sure I aced all my tests and my friends asked me to hangout this weekend."

"That's great!" Esme sits opposite of me as I take a big gulp of blood.

"Where is she?' Jacob's voice booms through the house. I laugh. He looks at me with relief filling his expression. "I thought something happened to you."

"What about me?" my mom asks. "I was with her."

"You didn't give me a chance to get to you yet."

"Wow, Jacob, your protective skills are lacking. You won't be any service to me if you can't be at my beck and call anymore." I joke.

"I have lots on my mind." Jacob grabs a seat and seats so close to me, our thighs touch. I feel the electricity run through my body.

"Like what?" I ask.

"I'll tell you my problems if you tell me yours." He whispers in my ear with a tiny smirk on his face.

"Jacob," Mom warns him.

"I'm just teasing. You vampires have no sense of humor."

Jacob grabs the bottle and barely takes a sip of blood when he remembers what it is. I laugh at his disgusted face.

"You can live off of human food. Drink a pop like a normal person."

"It's not as good."

"So what are you and your friends doing this weekend, Renesmee?" Esme asks me as she cleans Jacobs spit off the table.

"That reminds me, hey mom can I go to a party tomorrow night?"

All eyes fall on me and Jacob's eyes look pissed off.

My mom hesitates getting the words out. "A party?"

"Yeah. I probably won't like it but I figured I would try to hang out with my friends."

"Can't we do something else?" Jacob groans. "I don't want to sit bored at a party."

"We?" I look at Jacob

"Hang on. No one is going to a party just yet."

"Party?" My dad walks in and kisses my mom on the cheek.

"Renesmee, ask your dad."

"Okay." I shrug. "Can I go to a party tomorrow night?"

"Where?" He asks, sitting across from me.

"First beach."

"With who?"

"My friends from school."

"And me." Jacob chimes in. "If you think my protective senses are lacking, you have another thing coming."

"What time?"

"I'm assuming when the sun goes down and whenever you want me back."

My dad nods his head. "Midnight."

"Sweet." I smile.

"That's it?" Jacob looks shocked. "You're letting her go? Just like that?"

"Why not? I trust her."

I jump out of my seat. "Well, your protective skills may not be lacking, but your position of who loves me the most is. Thank you, daddy." I hug him before I grab my bag and head off to our cottage.
