Silena

Fire was around me. It was blazing bright red, orange, yellow, and sometimes blue. I spun around frantically, trying to see a way out. That's when I saw it. Blazing black eyes from inside the fire. A giant black shape was in the fire. I knew what it was. I had seen it before. A wolf. Bigger than I, teeth like razors, claws like spears, its hide as thick as dragon scales. It was called a Shadow wolf, a wolf that only appears when death is near. It came closer and closer to me, from out of the fire.

"Silena!" I heard a voice call from behind me. I turned around and saw Thorin standing there.

"Thorin!" I shouted back. But my voice was drowned out by the sound of a snarl behind me. I turned around, gripping my sword in my hands. The wolf was out of the fire.

"I know you...." It hissed in black speech. "There is something about you...something dark." I looked into the pitch blackness of its eyes. It came closer and closer to me. Suddenly I felt a hand on my shoulder.

"Silena wake up!" A voice shouted.

I open my eyes. Thorin was standing above me.

"Silena," He whispered. He had a look of worry on his face. I slowly sat up and looked around. I remembered what had happened. We were being chased by orcs. We were seeking refuge at Beorn's house. We were in the barn. The rest of the dwarves and Bilbo were still sleeping. I looked at Thorin.

"Is everything ok?" I asked quietly.

"You were moaning and trembling in your sleep," he said. "And you were muttering a strange language. Black speech maybe." I looked at him.

"I'm fine." I said. He gave me a small smile.

"If somethings going on, you can tell me." He said.

"I know," I said nodding. We sat there in silence, listening to the other dwarves snoring. Thorin was the first to break the silence.

"When will you take your mask and hood off?" He asked. "When will you show me your face?" I looked down at the ground. Then I looked back up.

"When the time is right," I said. He looked at me.

"And when is that?" he asked.

"Soon, I think." I said. He looked at me and smiled.

"You should get some rest," He said. "We have a long way to go still." I nodded and slowly lowered my head, soon falling back into sleep.

I was sitting at a table with the dwarves and Gandalf. Beorn was pouring the dwarves milk.

"So you are the one they call Oakenshield." Beorn said to Thorin. "Tell me, why is Azog the defiler hunting you." At this moment I saw Bilbo come quietly and sit next to Gloin.

"You know Azog?" Thorin said. "How?" I was sitting in the back next to Thorin. I was sitting there quiet and completely still. I could tell I made Beorn a bit uncomfortable, with or without my hood and mask.

"My people were the first to live in the mountains," Beorn said. "Before the orcs came down from the north. The defiler killed most of my family. But some he enslaved. Not for work you understand. But for sport. Enslaving skin-changers and torturing them seemed to amuse him."
