Izuku and company stood in front of their "base". It was just a bit smaller than the average hero agency headquarters, so it was the tallest building in the prefecture, but was dwarfed by the headquarters of someone like Endeavor. The framework was a gunmetal grey with similar shaded glass windows with a massive, highly stylized double "x" symbol.
"This is where you're staying, Melissa?" Izuku asked, mouth agape.
"Yeah."
"I'll explain everything about this place once you pass your entrance exam. But your training will begin once you take the water divination test."
Five second pass
"Yes ma'am."
"You're so polite, Midoriya." Melissa noted, smiling.
"It's just how I was raised." Izuku shrugged it off.
The trio entered the building and took the elevator up to the top floor. They entered a large room, bigger than Izuku's entire apartment. It was nearly empty aside from a faucet, cabinet and a closet. Yari opened the cabinet and grabbed a glass. She filled it with water and placed a leaf from her pocket on the water's surface.
"Now listen up, I'm only gonna explain it once. There are six varieties of hatsu. Six types of abilities you can create from nen."
Izuku's pen blurred across a page in his sketchbook.
"Gimme that!!!" Yari snatched it out of his hands.
Yari scribbled something on it and handed it back. Izuku looked to the page to the right of the one he had been working on. It displayed a hexagonal graph labeled
Enhancer.
Transmuter.
Emitter.
Manipulator.
Conjurer.
Specialist.
"This graph used for finding the three nen types you should use. When you find your affinity, you work on that and the two neighboring types, before you branch out further."
Five seconds passed.
"This is because you'll use your affinity with a hundred percent efficiency and the neighboring type with eighty percent efficiency. The two types another type further down with sixty percent efficiency and the one directly across the graph to your efficiency with forty percent efficiency."
Yari snatched the book back and scribbled more. She copied the graph five more times, the percentages displayed.
A bit sloppier than Izuku would've done it, but it'd suffice.
"Now, the water divination test. If the volume of the water increases, you're an enhancer. If the water changes color, you're an emitter. If the leaf moves, you're an manipulator. If the taste of the water changes, you're a transmuter. If random shit appears in the water, you're a conjuror. If something else weird happens, you're a specialist." Yari explained. She sighed
"What a fuckin' mouthful"
"You're probably a conjuror." Melissa interjected, hands on hips.
"What makes you say that?" Izuku questioned.
"Conjurors tend to be overly cautious and analytical."
