"Are you sure, Pavement?" Dockpaw asked. Daisypaw nodded in agreement."I am sure." Pavement smiled. "Come on! Cream is very nice. She is like my other mom!" Dockpaw and Daisypaw reluctantly agreed and walked to the pace of Pavement's trot. They neared the camp and Pavement opened his mouth. "Hey, Cream! Meet my new-" he saw a patrol full of cats. Unable to stop saying it, he continued, "friends..." The patrol snapped their gaze towards me.
"Dockpaw? Daisypaw? What are you doing here?" a muscular brown tom stepped out.
"Timberclaw...this is our friend, Pavement." Dockpaw winced. The leader shook her head and swiveled it to Cream.
"Creampool. What are you doing here," she demanded.
"Creampool? Who's Creampool? I think you got the wrong cat. She is called Cream. Not Creampool," Pavement tilted her head.
"That's our leader, Elkstar," Dockpaw whispered.
"I see Silverdawn. Where is Lilypool then?" Elkstar said. Her voice is so smooth!
"Dead." Cream closed her eyes. Pavement could see tears falling down her eyes. Pavement rushed to her.
"It's okay, Cream. Like what Silver said, she walks with Starclan, whatever that is." Pavement leaned on her.
"How did she die!" Elkstar raged.
"I'm so sorry, Mom. She got killed by her mate." Cream sobbed.
"Mom? I thought your mom is Snow!" Pavement gasped.
"Hush, child." Timberclaw flicked his tail.
"Who is her mate?" Elkstar growled.
"A cream tom named Chalk. These kits are her's. She had another one, but Chalk killed him. He was brown. Brown like Dad." Silver sniffed.
"After Lily was killed, we're threatened by Chalk. If we don't leave, he's going to kill us. We packed our belongings and ran away. I'm so sorry, Elkstar!" Cream bawled out. Pavement never saw Cream so sad. Elkstar stumbled, she started to sway, then she fainted. Cream's eyes snapped up, even though her eyes were still wet. "Bring her to camp! Now!" she demanded. Cats made way for her.
"What's happening?" Pavement demanded.
"We'll explain everything. Follow us." Timberclaw picked Pavement up like a kit.
"I'm not a kit anymore!" Pavement squirmed.
"Heh. You are a smart one." Timberclaw chuckled. He let Pavement down.
"What is happening?" Pavement repeated.
"Elkstar has fainted from shock," Timberclaw explained.
"No, the whole thing. Why Silver is Silverdawn or Cream is Creampool or what you guys were talking about and why did Cream call Elkstar mom when her mom was Snow!" Pavement spilled all his anger out. "Was my life a lie?" Pavement glared at his paws. Timberclaw's eyes soften.
"Come here, Pavement." Timberclaw flicked his tail to the edge of the cliff. "Sit down." They both sat down.
"Well?" Pavement lashed his tail impatiently.
"Well, first of all, I'm your grandfather." Timberclaw smiled sadly.
