Pavement's feet became sore as he had been walking for ages. Cream finally stopped. "This is the place where we will camp," she said. It was a small clearing with some bushes around it and smaller ones inside. "The bushes provide a safe place for us to sleep in." Cream observed. Pavement sat down.
"My paws are aching so much!" Pavement complained, rubbing his paws around the grass.
"Lemme find some dock." Silver said. She slinked out of the bushes. Cream raced for her.
"Isn't dock right here?" Cream motioned to the patch of green leaves.
"Oops!" Silver laughed. Silver rubbed the dock onto Pavement's paws.
"Ahhhh." Pavement exhaled.
"I got some moss. We might not be used to it, but this is what we'll sleep on." Cream said, tossing the moss into the den.
"Can we have dinner though?" Scotch asked.
"Yes, but you can't eat. You eat too much. If the forest cats find us, they'll think you're a kittypet." Silver shook her head. "We have to be more strict now, I'm sorry, Scotch." Scotch frowned and padded into his den. Pavement took a couple bites of the leftover sweet-potato bites. This might be his first and last time to eat these, so he savored every taste.
"Go to sleep now. Tomorrow, I want each of you to find plants that look different. I do not want grass. Anything but grass. Scotch. Do not eat them. Some plants are poisonous. I also want you to hunt. If you don't catch something, you can't eat. Especially Scotch." Cream narrowed her eyes. Pavement gulped.
"Good night, Ivy. Good night, Silver and Cream! Good night everyone!" Pavement yawned. He climbed into his nest. Eyelids drooping, he fell into a deep sleep. Pavement opened his eyes.
"Pavement! Pavement! Help! Pavement! Help meeeeeee!" Lily's voice flashed. Pavement ran towards the sound. He skidded to a stop.
"Pavement! Save your siblings! Save Cream! Save Silver. Leave me! There is a cat coming. Go!" Lily's voice rang. He saw a figure coming for him.
"Chalk," he whispered. He jerked his head up. It is dawn. Cream and Silver are still sleeping. His littermates are too. He heard a twig snap. Pavement followed the noise. He stopped when he saw a brown and white domestic shorthair cat.
"Hey, you! Get off of our territory!" he hissed.
"Who are you?" Pavement narrowed his eyes.
"The question is, who are you!" he snarled.
"Fine. I'm Pavement." Pavement rolled his eyes.
"And?" the cat growled.
"And what?" Pavement tilted his head.
"Aren't you going to tell me why you're on Dawnclan territory?" the cat tilted his head too.
"Ugh. My mother gave birth to me and four more siblings then my dad got mad and he killed one of our siblings then he tried to kill me before my grandfather attacked him then my mother's whole family showed up and scared him but yesterday...we went to the markets and when we came back, my dad, Chalk killed my mom, Lily, and my grandfather, Frosty attacked Chalk and Cream, Silver, me, Rose, Scotch, and Ivy were forced out of our homes and then we are here. Better?" Pavement said in one big breath. The brown tom eyes widened.
"Wow. How could Chalk kill your mom? I mean like, I never met my mom, but...how could he kill your mom? Like why? Keep telling me your story!" he squeaked.
"Really? Aren't you going to introduce yourself?" Pavement gave him a "really?" look.
"Oh, yeah. I'm Dockpaw. I am a Dawnclan cat. I never met my mom, but I have two siblings, Daisypaw and Tansypaw-after the herbs." Dockpaw said. "Can you tell me about your family?"
"Ivy, Rose, and Scotch are my littermates. Ivy is full of adventures. Me and Ivy are like best friends. We get along better than we get along with our littermates. Ivy is a silver tabby. Rose and Scotch are buddies. They're not really best friends. Rose is a redish cream she-cat. Scotch is a cream tabby tom. He loves food. Cream is a cream she-cat. Silver is a silver she-cat." Pavement informed.
"Wow. You have a lot of cream and silver cats in your family." Dockpaw widen his eyes.
"Cream is really regal. She holds her head high and she speaks like a Twoleg leader. Silver is more outgoing. These days, they had been more strict. If we don't hunt, we don't eat. We need to hunt our own food, or we don't eat at all." Pavement repeated the last part.
"At all?" Dockpaw's eyes widen even more.
"Until the next meal." Pavement mumbled.
"Woah. In Dawnclan, we eat even though we don't hunt." Dockpaw gaped.
"I don't know how to hunt though..." Pavement trailed off.
"Ooo! Ooo! I know! My mentor taught me hunting and fighting!" Dockpaw cried.
"Okay? Can you teach me?" Pavement said.
"Sure! Get into a crouch, tuck your paws in and put the weight on your hindlegs then you carefully stalk a prey. Then, you pounce." Dockpaw informed. Pavement got down And Dockpaw fixed some parts. "Okay, now go look for some prey." Pavement went behind the bushes and saw a vole. Pavement followed Dockpaw's instructions and he pounced just in time before the voles scurried away. The vole squeaked and then fell limp.
"I caught it!" Pavement whispered. "I caught vole. My first prey!" He carried the vole back to camp where his family started to wake up.
"Pavement! There you are!" Cream cried. "I thought they got you!" her eyes trailed off to the vole. Her eyes brighten. "You caught a vole! Good job, Pavement!" Cream licked her on the forehead. Pavement squirmed.
"I'm not a kit anymore!" Pavement argued.
"You are only five moons old. You are still considered a kit." Cream fussed.
"What happened?" Ivy blinked.
"Pavement caught his first prey!" Silver purred. Ivy's eyes widened.
"Woah! That vole is huge!" Ivy pawed at it. "How did you do that?" Pavement looked at Cream She nodded.
"Get into a crouch, tuck your paws in and put the weight on your hindlegs then you carefully stalk a prey. Then, you pounce." Pavement showed her. Ivy copied him. Soon enough, Ivy attempted to kill a mouse. It was a messy kill, but it was better than nothing.
This is the longest chapter I ever written. It is 1048 words, not including this, but wow! What do you guys think about Dockpaw? Please comment it down below. I sound like a Youtuber right now but I really want to know what you guys think.
