You woke up in a cold sweat, you had been plagued by ultra-realistic nightmares since you could remember. An empty feeling warped in your gut every time you awoke from one.

You had a hard time getting back to sleep, usually melatonin or counting sheep worked for you, but nothing could touch you tonight. The rest of the night you spent up getting ready. An everything shower later, students began to wake as well.

Hermione had invited you to go to breakfast with her, Ron, and Harry. You graciously accepted and found lots of things to bond over while getting ready. It's easy to just click with girls and feel like you've been friends forever. You talked to her about your old school and she told you all about her family, both of you really interested in the others stories.

The great hall was a bit of a walk from the dorms but you didn't mind, Hermione had been telling you all about the history of the building and it really intrigued you. Ron and Harry not so much though.
You made it to the great hall and Hermione introduced you to more of her girl friends, among them being; Ginny Weasley (Ron's sister), as well as Padma and Parvati Patil. You were accepted very quickly among them, once comfortable you were quite outgoing.

You had partnered with Hermione to read tea leaves for this lesson, both of you entranced in your cups of book. But the shriek of your Professor snapped you out of it.

"My dear, you have the grim!" Trelawny said fear laced through her voice.

"The grin what's the grin?"

"Not the grin the grim you idiot!"

You looked over at harry to see him horrified. According to Ron he had been in imminent danger every one of his years at Hogwarts and now with Sirius Black and the grim he cant seem to catch a break.

"Dear let me see your cup." Professor Trelawny asked. She looked at me, worry evident in her eyes.

"Oh my miss l/n, one of the worst omens of all." Trelawny whispered.

"I'm sorry omens?" You asked, the deranged Professor said she sees misfortune and pain in your future. Quite frankly you weren't very superstitious but she did freak you out quite a bit.

"Don't worry y/n the old hag is wrong divination is fake." Hermione said trying to reassure you it would be fine. You tried to talk a little more with Ron and Harry since most of your conversations had been with Hermione so far. The three of you talked about your shared love for quidditch, you and Ron had  found similarities in each other with neither of you being too great at playing it, but both loved watching it.

You all walked in to transfiguration, most everyone looked gloomy from divination.

Professor McGonagall cracked a joke and no one laughed.

"What's wrong with you lot? Usually not to boast or anything but you laugh at my jokes!" McGonagall said.

"Sorry professor we've just had our first divination lesson." Hermione muttered.

"Ah yes who's going to die and get tortured this year!" McGonagall cheered, looking around the room.

"We are ma'am"  You and Harry said in unison.

"If it wasn't for the fact that I never speak ill of my colleagues, well divination is the least predictable branch of magic. Professor Trelawny has predicted the death and torture of a student every year and they are all just fine. So sorry potter and l/n for not excusing you from today's homework but if you die or get tortured you don't have to turn it in." McGonagall joked. That elicited a laugh.
