Annabeth

"Well? What happened to her?!" I demanded. Doctor Griffin looked up, stressed.

"Miss Chase, we told you. She has hypothermia, minor frostbite on her toes and fingertips, and her left arm is broken."

"How bad is the hypothermia?"

"When we brought her in, her body temp was 30ºC." I stopped dead in my tracks.

"And can she recover?" he looked away.

"It's a slim chance." I backed away, shocked, falling into a chair.

"N-No. She looked so peaceful earlier...she has to survive!"

"We will do all that we can." Doctor Griffin said grimly, walking out and closing the office door behind him. After a few minutes, there was a knock at the door.

"C-Come in." I stuttered. Sally opened the door and enveloped me in her embrace, which I accepted. I began crying into her shoulder, unable to hold back my sobbs.

"I-I failed. A-As a m-mother, as a p-pers-son."

"No, no sweetie. You haven't failed. This is just a bump in the road." she reassured me.

"There is such a slim chance she'll survive, though." I wiped my eyes.

"But there's still that small chance. Have hope."

I sat at Rosalie's bedside, remembering the past eight years.

(Newborn)

"Rosalie." I said, looking into my newborn daughter's eyes. "Rosalie Athena Chase."

(Four)

"Why is it so cold in the winter? It's not fair for the people who live in Florida to get warm weather, while we are up here freezing our toes off!" Rosalie grunted as we lifted the middle part of the snowman onto the bottom. I laughed, packing snow around the edges to keep it from falling.

"It's because of the way the earth is shaped, and the way the axis is tilted. In Florida, they are closer to the equator, where the sun hits the hardest. Up here in New York, the sun doesn't hit us as hard and so we get colder weather."

"The sun is very mean to the equator. The sun is a bully."

(Six)

"Mommy, I think you will really like Annie's daddy." I laughed.

"And since when did you become such a little Aphrodite?" I teased her.

"I was born for the job!" she said proudly. I laughed, handing her the pancakes.

(Six)

"Woah! Like, arrested as in go to jail?!"

"Yea. Not my proudest moment."

"You are so cool! Why did you get arrested?" I laughed.
