Four slowly rose from the patch of ferns he had forced himself to sleep on with Leafy. He groaned unhappily and stared around the deserted clearing, Two had even took away the contestants from the BRB, he didn't forget anybody—besides Leafy. Leafy stirred beside him, he prodded her side and at once she was awake. She sat up and blinked sleep away from her eyes, "so, are we going to—Two's..place..?" She asked, touching his shoulder. Four nodded, a tiny spark of determination returning in his chest. He gently picked Leafy up and headed towards the trail, gently setting her on his head.
"I know a better, more hidden route," Leafy looked down at him. "Where is it?" He searched for another path that may be hinting what Leafy was referring to. "The darker forest from here, there's no obstacles and the dark, gloomy shadows and bushes that crowd that part of the woods would surely keep us—even our bright colors—hidden," she pointed left, the only sign of the forest existing being a few peaks of pine trees that stood out from the bushy, yellow or green trees. Four nodded in acknowledgement and began to venture there, though there was no path to follow. It wasn't long before the familiar shrubs and trees began to fade into more long, lush and dark green grass. The land around them darkened as more huge pine and spruce trees crowded around them. The ones with longer branches and more nettles crisscrossed the sky, barely letting any light seep into the ground.
"It may seem dark and scary, but we'll be fine, just keep heading North," she gripped his fur tightly. Dark? Scary? It was only then how Four realized how quiet and anonymous the woods were. Only a few birds clicked and whistled through the eerie, looming sap-scented trees. Four expected a monster to leap out of any bush he searched at him. He shivered and began to hurry, more trees in the way, and more silence bathing them and the forest around them.
"Running will only churn up your sub-concious mind levels and make you rush faster because you think something is chasing you down or watching you, Four—please calm down! You'll hurt yourself before you even see a speck of Two," Leafy's voice trembled with anxiety. "What do you mean, you seem to be panicking too!" Four shrieked, gaining speed. "I'm not the one walking here!" She argued. "No, but you're the one being a hypocrite," he snarled gently, his growls abruptly cutting off as sharp needles exploded into him, stabbing his belly, legs and arms. Four screeched, stumbling. He had crashed into a cluster of thorn bushes. Leafy whimpered in all of sympathy, relief and worry. The dreadful, menacing prickly bushes seemed to duplicate and stretch out across the clearing.
"You said there would be no obstacles and that it would be safer," Four muttered irritably as he began to pluck the thorns off his flesh and fur. "Four! I am so sorry! Let me help you!" Leafy fretted as she leapt down, joining him as she gently began to pick thorns out. "I forgot this was here. Usually I'd make it through these bushes pretty fine, because of how thin and slick I am," she murmured apologetically as she searched for more thorns. Four snarled, wildly looking around. "Where do we go now? We should've never came here," he muttered. "Now we'll get lost or never find them!"
"Nonsense, Four! We'll find a way." She brushed him off softly. Four groaned impatiently and paced around, still wincing from the tiny wounds the thorns bored.
Leafy gently grasped his arm, causing him to hault. "I have a better idea," she smirked.
