"How serious were you about asking for my hand in marriage?"

~*~

You march to Sinbad's room, sentry close on your heels. The door  bangs open, startling Sinbad and Ja'far who are going over documents at  a table.

"You're highness? I thought you had retired for the night..." Ja'far began.

"Why didn't you tell me you're dating Seren?!" you demand from Sinbad, waving your hand to the side, indicating your guard.

The purple haired youth leans to the side, his stray hair forming a question mark.

Ja'far's fists clench on the table while growling, "Sin...I warned you about this."

You continue, "Don't try to deny it! Unless you want to explain to her yourself why you went and got engaged behind her back!"

"Explain to Seren?" Sinbad repeats, puzzled.

"She's using Zepar's power to control my guard. So she can hear every incriminating word that leaves your mouth!"

Sinbad blinks as he looks the guard over.

"You better choose your response carefully," Seren warns through the guard.

"Seren...Are you controlling him all the way from Balbadd?"

   She nods.

"Zepar can do this, huh?" A big smile appears on his face as he  stands and approaches her. "This is wonderful! With your help, we should  be able to pull this off easily!"

Have you no shame?!       you wonder. You had hoped he'd act a little guilty for leading you on but apparently his mind was nowhere near the commitments.

Sinbad continues, "Think of the time it will save us on  communicating! Seren, I need you to arrange some of our fastest boats  with minimum crew..."

"And why should I help you?" she cuts him off.

"Pardon?" Sinbad takes a step back, flabbergasted at the cold aura emanating from her.

Seren states, "(y/n) explained to me the situation with your  village. But this isn't going to help me take back Parthevia nor help my  brother. Instead, this will get me further from my goals as you help  Barbarossa. What do you expect me to do when you move right next door to  him in your 'new kingdom?'"

He laughs in response, "Don't worry, it'll all work out! When we  set up Sindria, (y/n) will be the queen. It's all for appearances so we  can still be together."

"We're not even married yet and you're already planning on  cheating?!?" you shout. Seething, you think how he is as bad...no, worse  than your father.

"Aren't political marriages for show?" He scratched his head  then semi-pouted, "Seren said I could have concubines when she proposed  to me."

"I said you could have concubines, not that I'd be one!" Seren huffed, stomping one foot, arms akimbo.

Sinbad held his hands up innocently, "That's not what I meant at  all. Try to look at the big picture here: how can I change the world  when I can't even save my own village? Let's focus on this. Then we can  sort out our relations. Trust me."

It's hard to look at him with that suave expression on his face. You turn away to hide your hurt.

"Come, Seren," you order as you leave.
