Chapter 4:Keeping my Secret

I came around the tree and ran right into the Alpha. He grabbed me before I could fall.

"Emersyn, thank the goddess we found you!" His voice was rough, just like I suspected it would be. He got a glazed look in his eyes and started leading me towards home. "I let everyone know I found you and I am taking you home. Your parents will meet us there. Along with the Luna. Emersyn I must ask why did you run from me?"

I looked up at him and blinked a few times. "You mean, I am not in trouble? I thought you would kill me for challenging you. I was scared I didn't know what happened, why I growled. What caused it. I don't have my wolf yet and I didn't mean to. I am so sorry Alpha." I spoke with tears in my eyes, afraid he would be mad for my obvious disrespect.

He stopped walking and looked at me. Grabbing my face to make our eyes meet he spoke the truth, "Emersyn, I could not get mad at a newly changing wolf for being scared. Where ever you are in the process, I must have spooked her and for that I am deeply sorry. The growl was a defense mechanism and I cannot fault you for something I caused. I did not even get the chance to speak to you before you ran out the door. Then it was like you vanished. We have been looking all night for you. I am truly glad you are safe. Can you please forgive me for scaring your wolf? When she comes, I would too ask her forgiveness?"

My wolf purred in the back of my mind happy her alpha apologized. A soft nudge told me a response was awaited.

"Of course, alpha. I am sorry I over reacted. It appears I am quite clumsy and tripped over a tree root. I got lost and took shelter in a cave near the river. Thank you for finding me." I spoke softly and formally.

He cocked his head and held my eye for a solid minute before continuing walking towards my house.

Cam that was close. Can he sense you?

No dear. I have myself blocked so no one can feel our power at the moment. It is too soon. We will wait till the full moon. I have a feeling we're going to be challenged and we'll need our combined strength. Now go, spend time with your family. We will talk more of this later.

I didn't even realize we made to my home until the alpha looked at me expectedly. I opened the door and invited him in. Looks like we made it home before anyone else. Looking over at the alpha making himself comfortable in the living room I asked, "Would you like anything to eat or drink? I am sure you must be in need of something after being out all night."

"Sure, I'll take a glass of water," He shrugs. "Let's head into the kitchen and we can make breakfast for everyone when they get here," he suggests.

I am a bit taken aback by his offer since he is the alpha but nonetheless, I agree and were off to the kitchen. I am surprised by my alpha. He is really just a normal guy. We talk, we laugh. The family walks in right as we're finishing up the blueberry pancakes. Leola just smiles gently while my parents look like I felt in the beginning.

"Alpha, what are you doing? I am so sorry Emersyn has you in here cooking. She should know better," My father starts.

"That's enough." Alpha Leon states firmly, "It was my idea to cook everyone breakfast. After the night we have all had I thought it was the least we could do. We should all be thankful Emersyn is home safe."

My father bows his head, "Yes, alpha."

My mom and the Luna start getting plates and silverware out. I help them set the table while the men get comfortable.

"Emersyn, we are so glad you are safe," the Luna states. My parents nod in agreement.

"I am too. I was so scared." I say in return. Keeping this to myself was going to be hard. Thankfully I was saved from more questions when Hannah walked in with Chase. He ran up and hugged me.

"Hey dude! I missed you," I kissed his forehead and roughed up his hair.

Smacking my hand away he says, "Ewe, I missed you too. I am really glad you're home. Mommy and Daddy was so scared. But I wasn't cause I am big and strong!"

I laugh. "Oh, you weren't scared for me?" I ask him teasingly as he climbs on my lap and snuggles close.

"Well, I was a little bit." He looks up at me with his big brown eyes "tonight can I sleep with you and we can have a movie night?" He looks so hopeful.

"Of course, buddy!" I reply, "what movie do you wanna watch?" I glance at Hannah.

"Come on Chase. Where's my invite?" Hannah throws in laughing. "I missed your sister too!"

Chase sighs dramatically, "Fine. You can watch the movie with us." We all laugh and enjoy the rest of breakfast. I retell my story a dozen more times before the day is over with.

The rest of the weekend went pretty much the same. Just hanging out with family and enjoying some much-needed quiet time. The Luna did want to meet with me later this week as the full moon was still 5 days away. She needed to make sure everything was going to go smoothly. Of course, she didn't know my secret.

"Han, did you get all the notes from English?" I ask

"Yeah, you need them?" She asks?

"Mhmm, since I missed a few days being sick I am bit behind." I hated being behind in school. "This is so dumb! It isn't like I wanted to miss school. They should just give me credit for it" I complain to Hannah. "I'll help you catch up," Hannah laughs as we walk out of school.
