The water was cold. It felt like needles stabbing me. I couldn't breathe.

Cam, I can't swim. I gasp out as more water enters my mouth. I try to spit it out but more keeps replacing what I just removed. I start to struggle more against the river. My fear of drowning choking me just as quick as the river herself.

Emersyn. Emersyn. Calm down. I am here. We are okay. Please stop fighting.

She's so calm. So serene. I slowly let go of my fear and try my best to relax. The water won't hurt me any more than Zander would have had I not left. I try to tell myself soothing thoughts as I drift farther and farther into the river.

I hope I will be okay. Please Nyx, let me live. I pray. My body sinks to the bottom as my vision turns black. I can no longer feel Camilla. I can't feel anything anymore.

"Hahahaha. What do you think it is?" I hear a small child-like voice question.

"I dunno, but whatever it is sure smells funny," another voice responds.

Suddenly I feel poking and prodding. Something is pulling my eyelids open and opening my mouth.

"Well, I don't see any fangs. Not a vampire." the first voice speaks again.

"I don't see anything in the eyes! Oh! Maybe it's a ghost! How cool. Hello Mr. Ghost." the second voice continues.

"Dummy it isn't a ghost. It's breathing." The first voice sounds annoyed now.

"Hey! Don't call me a dummy Kota! I'm telling mom!" and with that last sentence I hear little feet take off.

  "Kids," the first voice mumbles.

I move my fingers and moan.

Trying to get a feeling for where I am and what happened. I reach out in my mind for Camilla. I still don't sense her. Whatever happened must have been traumatizing for the both of us.

"Kota, what exactly are you doing in here? I forbad you from entering this sanctuary. I warned you there would be consequences if you disobeyed me again." This voice is different. It sounds like wind chimes in the wind. Strong and sure of herself the voice continues speaking, "and bothering our guest nonetheless. I can't believe I thought you was ready to start training."

"Momma, I'm sorry but Koda wanted to see what it was and I was just making sure he didn't get into any trouble. I am sorry momma, please forgive me." Kota says.

"Be that as it may, you still defied me. Now go to your room until I return." "Yes momma," Kota says and walks away dejectedly.

"Now, as for you. I know you're awake. And I know you've been listening. Please allow me to introduce myself. I am Lenna. I am the queen of the Fae. You my dear have landed yourself in a bad situation. Open your eyes. Let us talk freely." Lenna says.

I slowly open my eyes trying to get my bearings in order. The first thing I see is the ceiling. It is covered in gold swirling patterns. The patterns flow down the walls and the room appears to be circular. Like a chamber. The floor appeared to be a black granite material. My eyes drifted over to the queen.

"Wow," It slipped before I could stop myself.

Her laugh was like bells, "I understand. This is a first for you. I am unlike anything you have ever seen."

She was blue with long silver hair. Her eyes the clearest blue I have ever seen. Tall and lean she appeared to be one with the water. In her hair she wore jewelry like I have never seen before. It was black with the same swirling patterns as the ceiling complete with a silver jewel in the middle, centered on her forehead.

She smiled; her fangs poked through. "Come now child. Why did you summon me? The Fae has never answered a wolf's call. What about you is you different?" Her voice stayed soft.

Tell her. We can trust her. She'll know who we are.

I yelped, not expecting Camilla's sudden appearance and nodded my head.

I leveled my eyes with the queen and allowed my eyes to flash gold.

A sharp intake of breath; wide eyes, "You're the golden wolf!"

I simply nodded my head. "I just shifted a week ago so everything is still new for us. I ran away from my pack once the young alpha tried to claim me as his mate. My wolf led me here. To you. To safety.

"Of course, you are safe here! No harm will come to you in my realm. That explains how you was able to cross through the barrier. May I ask why you ran away from your mate? Isn't that what all young were-wolves want? To have a mate?" Lenna asked.

"I do not desire a mate. Especially an alpha male. Perhaps someone other than Zander. Camilla, my wolf, told me she felt his wolf reach for her but I am not convinced we are true mates. He was abusive when I didn't summit. I refused. My wolf forced a shift and my growl was enough to level the entire pack. I am not meant for such a small minded alpha." I state dismissibly.

Lenna smiles boldly, fangs shining in the light, "I think you'll do well here for a bit. Pehaps you would like to join some of our training sessions while you are here. Become more well-rounded. It might make your role easier in the future. Once the world knows about you; Golden Wolf." With that statement she bows her head slightly in respect and my wolf purrs in happiness.

She wants to see me? I shall shift for her. No one else must know where we are for now. We must stay safe.

 I agree.

"We are that we will shift. It is important no one else knows who we are though."

I tell Lenna. "Of course," Lenna responds looking very excited.

I smile and stand up. My body shifts in one fluid motion and I stand proud and strong as my wolf. I am larger than an average wolf, even bigger than an alpha. As such, I stand almost to Lenna's shoulders.

My golden eyes flick to her and I purr.

"May I pet you?" Lenna asks, "I have never been so close to a wolf before."

I lower my head and Lenna approaches me. She scratches behind my ears and Camilla really starts purring. She apparently likes that a lot.

"We're gonna get along great!" Lenna says. I give her a wolfy smile, grateful to be safe and alive. Laying at her feet I close my eyes and rest. It has been a tiring 24 hours.
