Waking up in the morning felt like a chore, it was usually quite hard and was too easy to fall back asleep after the irritating alarm had been turned off. When it was early in the day, it tended to be cold, especially in Quinn's room, so staying in her warm sheets was the better option. But today was different. Today she was going to Hogwarts.

She came from a long line of Wizards, both her parents went to Hogwarts - that's where they met. It was during class where her father tried to throw a ball of paper across the room at his friend but accidentally hit her mother. Her family were weird about muggles in their family tree, they wanted to be pure blood, but over the years the less they cared. however , if Quinn were to bring a muggle boy back to their house, he wouldn't be accepted as quickly as a boy who knew the basic spells and potions. Practically everyone in their family were either a wizard or a witch, mainly because they were too scared to be involved with a muggle, but that meant that they weren't able to trace who the first wizard in their family actually was. Quinn had two older brothers, Tyler and Dylan. She knew what to expect at Hogwarts, mainly because her brothers wouldn't shut up about it when they were home. They were constantly talking about how amazing it was - learning magic, making potions, seeing the gorgeous animals and even the building itself was magnificent.

Quinn originally went to Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry for the first two years of her education. She lived in Wyoming with her Aunt and Uncle - her brothers stayed in Scotland with a few of their friends, but Quinn was too young to stay without a responsible adult (not that her brothers were irresponsible) so she had to move. She didn't understand the reason behind it, her parents were always moving and travelling, but never gave a straight answer on why. She asked over a hundred times why she had to move, but she eventually gave up when she realised she wasn't getting anywhere.

When they started travelling without her children, that's when she noticed that her parents weren't there for her, or her brothers anymore. The constant arguing when they were home led them to believe that they were having serious problems. All they cared about was themselves at this point and were happy enough to send their children to Hogwarts and not see them for months on end. They spent more time apart then they did together, but they didn't understand why they would travel so much. The Nanny her father got was an old elderly woman, every one on the hairs on her head were long silver strands that more often than not, got in her way when she was cooking or cleaning. Quinn got exceptionally close to her, acted like she was her mother. It made her sad to think about when she was younger, her dad was her hero. Ice-skating at Christmas while her mother made gingerbread men, dressing up on Halloween with her brothers and having the biggest birthday parties. It hit her the hardest when she realised what was happening. Ice-skating became a chore to them, the only thing that was cooked on Christmas was the turkey, she had to make her own costumes and wander the dark streets with her brothers and parties turned into a couple of balloons that hung on the walls and a few friends were invited.

Her bedroom was dark, she had just woken up and her eyes hadn't adjusted to the light, but after a few seconds she could make out the pieces of furniture. she was excited when she woke up but also quite annoyed, she was having a dream about Hogwarts. The beautiful castle and the long corridors, her brothers told her about the great hall and in her dream she was standing in the middle of it, fire works going off, so much food down the middle of four long tables. Everyone was talking and cheering. It felt so homey and comfortable. She was so excited to finally go.

Next to her bed was a cart with everything she needed. Her Brothers took her to Diagon Alley a few weeks before going to Hogwarts, they needed a few new things too so thought it was a great opportunity to bring her along and get her own things. The cobbled street and old shops were very different to what she was used to. She lived in a very modern house and she could be classed as quite rich, but she didn't care if she had money or not. Quinn walked into Olliveranders alone while her brothers went off to get her uniform - hat, robes, gloves. The shop was empty and all the walls were covered from floor to ceiling with boxes for wands. "Hello there." the shopkeeper called out, Quinn gave a small smile back, still in awe of the masses of wands. "Is this your first wand?" he asked, Quinn shook her head.

"No, I've had one before but it was lost in travel" she replied back, still wondering where her lost wand could be. When she opened her luggage when she came back from America, it was gone.

He tutted, "better get you kitted out with a new one." The first wand he picked out was dark brown with a lovely floral pattern at the top where she held it. When he passed her the wand she gave it a quick swish, the book in front of her started to move slightly. It felt comfortable in her hand and she could move it with ease. "I think that's the one for you," he smiled at her. "seven Galleons." he asked, Quinn pulled the coins from her pocket and gave it to her, then met her brothers outside. They had her clothes and books for her and they had one thing left to get - an Owl.

The Owl Quinn had bought was a snowy Owl, it had large yellow eyes and a small black beak. It was a gorgeous animal which she decided to name Lavender - the name of her favourite flower. Lavender sat potentially in her cage on their way home, occasionally looking out the window at other birds she could see.

Her brothers told her everything she needed to know about Hogwarts so they knew she was safe to be going around by herself. They let her know that the train will be very long and can be anxious for new students. She didn't have to worry about making new friends straight away, and it would be better to wait until she finds out what house she'll be in. Both Dylan and Tyler were Hufflepuff's and they expect her to be the same, but not to worry if she's not - as long as she doesn't get Slytherin. She was also taught about You-Know-Who. It was very brief as they didn't like to talk about them but they needed to let her know in case he ever came back. They talked about the History of Hogwarts after that, then the students and teachers. They kept saying the name 'Snape' and how horrible he was. "He is so mean to anyone who isn't in Slytherin. He teaches potions but everyone knows he wants to teach defence against the dark arts."
