"Isn't he beautiful" Hagrid said as an animal creeped out behind him. It was gorgeous. He was half eagle and half horse, both feathers and hair, both hooves and claws. It stood on four legs proudly, its wings stretched to show how magnificent he really was. His beady eyes watched every one of the students. "This is Buckbeak." Hagrid introduced as he chucked him some meat which he then caught and ate straight away.
Ron looked a little frightened by the animal, then asked "what is that?"
"That Ron, is a hippogriff." he told. Quinn was amazed by this creature, not scared in the slightest unlike a lot of the other students - even Draco. She laughed at the thought a harmless creature could scare the bully so much. "One thing about these creatures is that they're very proud. You do not want to insult one." Hagrid explained to everyone. "Now who wants to have a go." Quinn was a little confused by what he meant. Have a go? Does he mean ride it? Quinn would love to ride a hippogriff, something tells here this might be her only chance, but by the time she had realised that in fact, she did want a go, Harry was already approaching the creature. This saddened her but she didn't want to say anything.
Harry stood in front of it, a couple metres away as Hagrid told him what to do. "You must bow, it's only polite. And see if he bows back." and he did. His head went down to the floor, as did Harry's. Harry walked towards it to go pet him. Quinn felt like she was in a trance from how beautiful he was until she felt a hard nudge from her side. She looked over and Draco was standing there, smirking as he took a bite out of his apple. What was she going to do? Hit the apple out his hand? Shove him back? There were four of them and one of her, and she doubted Hermione was going to do anything either. Draco stood next to her, she didn't know why he wanted to. Maybe to make her feel uncomfortable - it was working. He was at least six inches taller than her, his hair looked quite soft and it parted in the middle - but the hatred she had for the boy was stronger than the love for the animal that stood in front of her - meaning she was more focused on him at the moment.
By the time she realised she was intensely staring at the blonde boy, she heard shouting coming from the hippogriff. All of a sudden it charged at the crowd with Harry on his back. They didnt know if it was going to take off or just run into them, but suddenly his wings opened and up he went - soaring through the sky. He went in and out the trees and eventually he went too far and high, both him and Harry were out of sight.
Quinn turned to Hermione in disbelief. They talked about how an amazing experience it was and how luckily Harry is, but before they could finish their sentence, the Hippogriff was already back with Harry still holding on strong. Hagrid lifted the boy off and talked to him privately. Out the corner of her eye she saw Draco marching towards it. "You're not dangerous at all, are you?" he said to the creature, it turned to look at him.
"Draco, stop!" Quinn shouted out. Yes it would have been great to see the animal tear him to pieces, but she wouldn't want to find out what would happen to Buckbeak if Dumbledore found out he killed a student. But Draco didn't listen, he just got closer and his voice got louder. "You great ugly brute." he insulted the animal, he was going to regret it. When Hagrid heard what Draco was saying he turned to try and stop it, but it was too late. Buckbeak had stood on his hind legs and used the claws on his front legs to attack Draco. Although it was obvious he tried to hurt him, all he did was scratch and rip his clothes.
Draco fell to the floor and frantically rolled about holding his arm in pain. "It killed me!" he kept shouting, Quinn rolled her eyes at the pathetic boy flailing around.
"He needs to go to the hospital." Quinn quietly told Hermione who agreed.
"He needs to go to the hospital!" she shouted out to Hagrid who then picked Draco up from the ground. He was still shouting insults to Buckbeak, but he didn't seem bothered by it.
