She woke to a terrifying jolt, holding onto Hermione's arm to stop her from flying into Harry. "Whats going on?" Quinn asked, clearly quite scared. Was this normal? "Does this usually happen?" her voice shaking as the lights in the carriage started flickering then turning off all together. She hugged her knees to her chest in disbelief that on her first day she could possibly die.
"No, I think we've broken down." Harry said as Quinn stood up to look out the window which had water streaming down it from the hard rain outside, making it almost impossible to see out of. She looked down to the massive drop, they were right in the middle of a bridge, this scared her more.
Both her and Ron said "somethings moving" as they looked outside, she saw what looked like black figures surrounding the train and went to sit back in her seat, scared for her life. The window started to freeze over, then so did the bottle of water sitting on the small table. They could see each breath they took as they hugged themselves to keep some heat. A black figure came slowly down the corridor and opened the door. Quinn was too scared to even look so she hid into Ron's arm, hugging him - almost crying. It was so silent, like everyone was too scared to talk or move, all silent except Hermione's cat which was hissing at whatever just entered the room. All of a sudden she could see the sleeping man stand and cast a very bright light from the tip of his wand, then Harry collapsed onto the floor. Moments later he woke again, the sleeping man offered him some chocolate to help which he took a small bite of then the train started to move.
She was too in shock to say anything else for the rest of the ride, but to calm their nerves and to change the subject, Harry decided to tell Quinn what they were talking about while she was asleep. She found out a man named Sirius Black had escaped from Azkaban (which she also found out was the prison in the wizarding world) and was trying to get to Harry. This didn't interest her much, but it did take her mind of things a little
By the time their story was over they had reached Hogsmeade, which was just outside Hogwarts. As the four of them got out of the train she looked up and down the platform, her stomach dropped as she saw the blonde boy jump out with his friends, laughing at something they clearly thought was hilarious. "Just stick with us, we know where we're going." Hermione told Quinn as they started walking away from the train.
Not long later, they arrived at the entrance to Hogwarts. Quinn had never seen the castle before, she only heard stories from her brothers and read about it in books, but she didn't picture it at all what it actually looked like. For a start it was so much bigger. It looked beautiful at night, and probably even better during the day. As they walked through the doors into the caste, they were greeted by, what looked like, a teacher. She talked to them about where to go and the expectations they had as older students, clearly something they've heard before and off the students went - to the great hall. "And you must be Quinn." the woman said, who now she realised was Professor Mcgonagall. "please. come with me." she said, giving her a large smile.
They walked for what seemed like hours until they eventually got to a small room with just her and an older man. The man had a long silver beard and a hat on his head. He greeted Quinn with a smile and gestured to her to sit on a stool next to him. "This is the sorting hat." he said as she lifted a large brown hat from a tall shelf. "This will tell you which house you're in, and when we get to the great hall you shall sit in your house. We like to do this in private with new students to stop embarrassment." She sat on the stool and the hat was placed on her head. "Ravenclaw!" the hat exclaimed. Quinn was over the moon with the answer, but slightly confused she wasn't in Hufflepuff like her brothers. But Dumbledore explained that it's normal for siblings to have different houses.
Mcgonagall walked Quinn to the great hall where there was a choire at the very front of the room, meaning that no one would see her coming in, which was perfect. She hated being the centre of attention - also she was scared that people would recognize her from the train. Mcgonagall Showed her to one of the four long tables that had all the Ravenclaws sitting at it. As she sat down she looked around at the rest of the tables. She saw Harry, Ron and Hermione sitting together, she got quite sad at the fact she couldn't sit with her friends, but she was sure she would make some new ones in Ravenclaw.
After the choir ended, Dumbledore stood up to make an announcement and walked to the golden podium which had an owl statue on the front. He introduced a new teacher, which was the same person they had met on the train, 'Lupin' his name was. After that he spoke about dementors, the same thing that attacked them when they met lupin. They were dangerous creatures he told everyone, and to be careful. When he had finished, he introduced a new student. "Quinn Amor!" everyone cheered. She felt all flustered again when everyone stared at her, but this time it was different. They were clapping and whooping, especially the Ravenclaws. She noticed one person who didn't clap. He was very noticeable, especially since he sat around people with dark hair, his blonde strands stuck out like a sore thumb. His face said it all, this boy hated the new girl
