davina
hearing about my mother's adventures at hogwarts was extremely heartwarming. it was interesting to find out that her and professor lupin were friends at the time, although i cannot say i'm surprised. i often find myself comparing professor lupin to my mother, as they are alike in some ways.
he refused to tell me anything that could point me to identifying my father. i know it had to have been someone she was involved with at hogwarts, considering i was born only six months after my mother left hogwarts.
he said that she would often help him study for classes, as i do for my friends, and that her strongest class was charms.
he told me so much about her, and seemed to enjoy our conversation. however, that joy left quickly once i asked his opinion on sirius black.
i wanted to get a teacher's perspective on how safe we truly were at hogwarts with him on the loose. however, he shut down the conversation quickly, simply stating that dumbledore would ensure our safety.
that statement didn't sit well, as the next day the portrait of the fat lady leading into the gryffindor common room was sliced, and the fat lady had ran to another painting.
this set everyone in the castle on edge. we were only allowed to move to and from classes. students were not allowed out of the castle, and were encouraged to move around the castle with a partner.
cedric, being the extremely worrisome and fiercly protective person he is, insisted on escorting me around the castle. seeing him everywhere started to feel normal, and i often let myself find comfort in the time we spent together. i'd even convinced him to sneak me into the hufflepuff common room, fred and george's antics rubbing off on me.
today marks a week since the portrait was slashed, and cedric and i are walking to the ravenclaw common room.
"hey vina?" cedric says, a questioning tone in his voice.
"yeah ced?"
"can we talk about something?" he asks.
"is everything alright ced?" i stop walking, turning to look at him.
"i just wanted to discuss something," he hesitates, "about us."
"what are you, tired of me already golden boy?" i sit on a bench nearby, him sitting next to me.
"quite the opposite actually," he smiles.
there's a silence in the air for a moment, us basking in what he just said. i knew there was obvious emotion between the two of us, especially since we had spent more time together. it's just actually talking about whatever those feelings were made a sick feeling in my stomach.
"what're you saying ced?"
"come on vina," he says, "don't tell me you don't see what's going on between us."
i remain quiet.
"i feel different when i'm with you davina, better. everytime i see you, it's like the world stops. you make me better, and i'm tired of denying it. i know we're only 16 and we're still so young, but i like you vina, loads. and i want to be with you."
"ced," i smile.
"please, just think about it. i'm not used to being this sentimental, so my words might've come out wrong-"
i cut him off, placing my lips on his. i feel him smile against them, before returning the kiss. we sit in pure bliss for a few moments. after we break away i smile, and cedric pulls me into his chest.
"does this mean we're... you know?" i ask shyly.
"oh look at you, all intelligent," he laughs, "no wonder you're a ravenclaw."
"oh shove off ced," i nudge his arm, "i just wanted to clarify."
he stands up, taking my hands and pulling me off the bench as well. he cups my cheek in his hand, brushing a stray hair from my face and tucking it behind my ear.
"of course you're my girlfriend, if you would like to be, of course," he nods.
"i would love to be your girlfriend ced," i smile.
"oh," he stutters, "that's spectactular, truly."
i hug him lightly, taking in the scent of his cologne blanketing his robes. i break away after a couple of moments, smiling up at him.
"i have to go," i smile, "but i will see you first thing tomorrow at breakfast."
"sounds amazing love," he nods, kissing the top of my head.
i bite my lip before turning on my heel and walking to the library. i knew blue would be here, because she always dedicated friday's to studying for any classes she was struggling with.
once i arrive at the library i race to the table she is seated at, flinging myself beside her.
"well hello there," she chuckles, "in a happy mood today, yeah?"
"i am in a brilliant mood," i smile, "well now i am, at least."
"and why is that?"
"my status might have slightly changed within the last hour," i smirk.
"do not tell me," she narrows her eyes, "you made quidditch captain for next term?"
"i wish," i roll my eyes, "we just made our house teams this year, blue."
"it was worth a shot," she laughs, "well if it's not quidditch than that means classes and social life are the only category left. and considering you've never been interested in boys your entire life, your grades must have improved."
i shake my head, and she gasps, covering her mouth with her hand.
"i may or may not be dating a certain prefect."
"no, no, no," blue shakes her head, "you must break up with percy right now."
"oh merlin not percy!" i shriek, "i'm dating cedric."
she jumps out of her seat, running over to me and yanking me into a hug. she seems to be extremely excited that i'm not dating percy weasley.
"you don't know how long i've waited for this news," she smiles, "i knew from the moment i saw you two that you'd end up dating. you're perfect for each other."
"oh really?"
"yes! you may be a ravenclaw, but you happen to have hufflepuff qualities as well. you're both extremely smart and dedicated, and loyal. you just focus more on the dedication, wit, and intelligence, while he focuses on loyalty and kindness. not to mention, you're both gorgeous."
"well thank you blue," i smile.
"i'm so happy for you, davina," she responds, "and i hate to dampen the mood, but me and blaise didn't work out. i have, a growing interest in someone else."
"and who might that be?"
"um," she fidgets with her fingers, "just harry potter."
